I still have the little Aiwa stereo thingie my parents bought me in, like, 1995.  That has TWO TAPE THINGERS and a COMPACT DISC player!  But, alas, I has nothing like that in my room.  Tear.  When I got my Saturn it had a factory tape deck still installed.  It actually played things at the right speed, amazingly enough (every other mid-90s car I've been in played things faster than they should have), but had a nasty tendency of not accepting tapes when the weather was hot.

I used to have a Talkboy...those things are the shit.  I wish I still had mine. :)

I don't blame you; they are quite awesome.

The "slow" feature was awesome for two main reasons: (1) you could slow down records and get double-speed, high-pitched plays, (2) you could (obviously) pull a Kevin McCallister and slow down plays to get half-speed, low-pitched stuff, (3) you could switch between the two at will without stopping the tape, and (4) you could slow down records and plays to get more space on the tape at the expense of quality (also, since it most likely pushes less power to the motor, it is probably better on battery life!).
