yeah, this time its my internet connection saying it can';t contact my dhcp so the connection times out. What can I do to fix this? I tried un-plugging and re-plugging in my internet, router, turning off the computer, and restarting, then re-plugging em all back in. That didn't work, so I tried reconfiguring my router, and resetting it, THAT didn't work so I tried re-configuring my IP address, and everytime I try to do that it sais I cannot connect to my dhcp, so the connection times out. What to do?
P.s : the internet and router work for all the other computers except mine. And the network card should be fine cause when I hooked my comp up directly to my modem it worked fine. Kinda slow, but fine.

Call your ISP tech support.... ;]

How about setting the router to use assigned IPs instead, so you bypass DHCP entirely.

Nah I figured it out, my network card is shot. There was a thunderstorm the other night and the power went out (didnt know that cause I was sleeping) and I guess the network card got fried.

this is why it's good to use surge protectors. :>
(or in my case, a UPS. ^.^)

While we're on the topic, I'm on dialup for a few weeks and will be poasting less.

K yeah, this is messed, it wasn't working at ALL, I was getting that DHCP error, and random "a network cable is unplugged" and what not, and now its working perfectly fine.....?

Oh, my old modem had a problem like that, I eventually gave up and just bought a new one.
