Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz LGA 775 Processor
ASUS P5N EI Sli Motherboard
OCZ 4 gig DDR2 800mhz ram
2x Nvidia 8600GTA 256Meg Pci-x Gfx cards.
Good? Or no?

I like it. Good buy! :)
I would have probably gone with a single 8800GTX (768MB VRAM) but, then again, those are hellaciously expensive. The twin 8600s should serve you well.
-
That's pretty freaking similar to mine, I've got the same mobo and processor, if I recall correctly, although I've got less RAM, and an 8800GTS, instead of two 8600's. Still, pretty badass :V

Cost?

Great build newf. Personally, I would have used a single card to hopefully free up a pci-e slot. For a future sata card or a little "sumthin sumthin". But SLI is a good call nonetheless. ;]
man, I should update my compy within the next year. With games like bioshock coming out, there's no way my shit will be able to catch up. X|
-
Cost?
I'm curious too.
-
Mine was 1,200, not counting the monitor, I'd say that's a little bit more, depending on the case. I'm not sure how much the ram is, but I got Corsair, and it was a bit pricier, so I don't think there'd be a huge difference there. Donno how much an 8600 is, so :s
-
Mine was 800 all together (with trade in of my old computer)
So 800 cash, and computer.

Cripes, that kicks ass. :O How much did you get for your old one?
-
I think only like 200.
-
Sad how quickly their value goes down, isn't it? :(
Just out of curiosity, what was in the old box?
-
Noice. Also, specster? I think we should have a computing forum by now. D:
-
The old computer was junk.
AMD 1.8gig processor.
1 gig ddr ram
Geforce fx 6200 gfx card
Asrock 97 motherboard.

But there is one...didn't you see it? ;)
-
Wow....constant 180-230fps in WoW kicks ass....I love it!
-
you should. it feels great to not have a shitty computer.. It makes stress go WAY down and a computing experience sooooooo much more enjoyable. From my experience, people that say they hate their computers probably have a shitty one. (or they use vista/mac OS ;]jk fanboyism... Windows sucks too.)
-
And the linux folker usually pipe up about how awesome their OS is. Go figure. :D
SRSLY though, linux sucks in its own ways. Just considerably less than everything else.
-
Haha...I just got another good upgrade for my computer today (well, not THE computer itself, but an accessory)
I just bought a Syncmaster 701n flat panel LCD monitor for 40$ from some guy lol.

you forgot to mention it was 19"
-
K now I gotta get this straight, its either 19" or 17", cause its not widescreen, does normal screen come in 19"? if not, then its a 17"
-
It can't be 19"... the Syncmaster 701n is a 17" model. (Thanks, google)
-
newf told me it was 19. BAD NEWF! No bisquit.
Still! 17" for $40? Almost a steal.except for the $40 part
-
Still, $40 is better than you're gonna get in a lot of places for a monitor, period.
-
Yeah, I seen this monitor online for like 200$, around there anyway.
-
My monitor costs between $169 and $274 according to http://www.shopbot.ca/ and it probably cost more when I got it.
