Computing / I just got my A+ cert

Yeap that's right. I've been working for a company that sells IT training mostly for MS and Cisco certifications but we cover other areas as well. Enter the employee discount, and I get a year's worth of access to our Cisco package for 900 bucks. Awesome. Just got my CompTIA A+ ce Certification last month, so I feel pretty great about that.

I'm probably going to be moving on to Network/Security+ and Linux+ next. I don't feel that as time goes on, MS certs or even CS certs at this point will mean much since the world is moving to server virtualization and linux/open source solutions for IT departments or outsourcing companies.

Oh yea and I'm 23 and living in Tempe, AZ now, in a house with great friends of mine, so life has been going in the right direction. Next steps would be to get more certs, get a better paying job or even start my own consulting business for SOHO networks, get a new car, and shit.

Gaming / Cheating in The Sims (or any game)

So my girlfriend's sisters got Sims 3, and ended up giving us all their Sims 2 DVDs to play, so for the first time I'll be installing this game ACTUALLY LEGITIMATELY.

I pose these questions to you good sirs (and madams):  Is the Sims 2 (or any sims) still as fun when you cheat from the get-go? Does the reward factor go down when you have everything given to you instead of working your poor ass sim through their bachelor days to a mansion?

Both my girl and her sisters have always cheated from the beginning with the sims, and I'm just wondering where you all stand on this. I enjoy cheating in certain games as much as the next person, but normally after a non-cheat affected play-through (like GTA titles).

Called "I'll Never Dream", this mix started off as a short 34 minute mix done while at a house party. My set was cut short because the cops showed up and broke the party up.  I listened to the mix and thought that it had been better than my recent stuff in general, so I decided to take the last song of that mix and keep mixing in the spirit, groove, and state of mind I was in the night of the party. This set covers a very wide variety of prog house tracks, ranging from straight up power anthems to groovy nu-disco rhythms in the middle, to the minimal beats of deep house. The set is a bit over an hour long, and I am using it as a promotional mix to hand out to people at raves, or other local DJs.

Lemme know what ya'll think, I'd appreciate it.

Computing / iOS 4.1 update

About a month late, but I remember spektur talking about how shitty the iPhones performance was with the 4.0 update.

After I updated my 2nd gen iPod touch to 4.0, it was left off the charger in sleep mode/standby like it always has been before (with no issues). I wake up the next morning, turn it on and the battery is close to dead. That would have never happened before, EVEN if I were playing music on it the entire time.  I got lazy and haven't decided to fix it or research it until today, but I figured out that with the new update, some of the settings were changed/some were added, that make the Touch stay connected to a WiFi network even in sleep mode. This was killing everyones battery life tremendously. So thanks to everyone else solving the problem first, I changed some of my network options on the touch and am now currently upgrading to 4.1, which includes the Game Center.

Gaming / Starcraft II

Yea that just came out....

SO I bought it because one of my close friends did. I've owned the original battle chest for a long ass time but never really got into it at all, so SCII is my first experience with any kind of starcraft at all.  I've played a shit ton of red alert 2/other C&C games, so I do have an okay knowledge of strategy games, but never applied it to SC.

So far I like protoss, and am annoyed by zerg.

Creation Station / Live Mixing via Stickam

So I'll be doing this from time to time, mixing songs live on stickam. I've done it for the past week already and had 2 or 3 people watch each time. I just am using it as a medium to practice and get live feedback on what I'm doing.  Or some people come listen because they're bored or fucked up/high and need some music.

Mostly spinning electro house, but also dubstep and trance make appearances.

Computing / t1840 rebuild

So I think my PSU took a shit, and I'd like to have a working desktop so.... 

this tower is very fucking old. I would like to slap a NEW: mobo, PSU, CPU, RAM [probably] in there.  The case is fantastic, microATX size.  I already have 2 burners and 2 HDDs in there that I would like to continue using, but they connect via IDE cable.  I don't know if that's "old" now, or if i should just skip to using whatever is current and cheap?

Considering this, I don't want a superpowernewawesomeballsXBAWX PC tower, I just want a reliable usable thing other than my brand new laptop. Also for backups/etc. OH and for video/DVD production. I have the best IDE-cable dual layer burner in there that I could find [LG], so I'd like to keep using that as it has served me very well.

this mobo has 1 IDE/PATA channel I can utilize for my good burner hopefully. I'll just have to suck dick for the SATA hard drive setup i suppose.
CPU - I like this one for the price/rating. [maybe drop my price by switching this around, just picked it at first glance.]
RAM
Hard drive


What I need help with now is the power supply.. I'm not sure if, because the case is referred to as 'microATX' that I'd be able to find a higher wattage ATX form factor PSU that would serve me better in this case... no pun intended.
