I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday! :D
Post all acquired swag here, I guess?
-
For christmas this year, I got 17 straight hours of work in an office all by myself and bored :(
-
I got a Kobo, and a nice sweater. And $300. (We haven't had much money lately)
-
Mostly practical stuff for me this year. I got a few shirts for work, a pair of jeans, a pair of slippers (my old ones were torn up to the point of hilarity), and stuff like that. I did get a $20 Best Buy gift card, a $15 StarBucks gift card, and $30 of cash cash money.

underwear

I got nothing but I get to be with my family and friends. Being in the military makes you realize what is really important to you.
-
Yeah, I guess it would.
The decent thing about not getting much at christmas is that at least I've got some work, so I can afford to get things myself every now and again, so I don't need to rely on christmas for presents the way I did when I was young.
The attachment is a picture of what my girlfriend made me. It's a crossstitched image of the protoss symbol!

Nifty! She is a very talented artist.
How has she been, by the way? She hasn't dropped by here in a while.
Glad to hear that you're a working man now. Is it something that you like doing, at least?
-
She's finishing up some classes in college, but after she's done she'll be going to university to get her BA, so she still has a lot of school ahead of her.
As for me, I'm finishing up some classes, and working on a sort of on-call basis for my dad's company MRT Automation (http://mrtautomation.ca/). I like when I'm doing there, but I'm mostly getting work because they're getting more automation stuff than they usually do. They don't have too much in the way of actual automation, but they have all sorts of shop stuff (CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, Band saws, etc. etc.)
-
Ah yeah, I remember you posting something about doing an automation project for them a while ago. Very nice. It's like they say: if you get paid to do what you love, you're not really working.
-
Well, the current project has been kinda BS. It's for a really big company that used to get all their stuff done in japan. They kept changing how they wanted things done, but not changing the date they wanted it to be done by, which was a real pain in the ass.
-
Yeah, you get some of those, too. I'm dealing with one of those types now on one of my subcontracting projects.
What's worse -- and I'm sure you're most likely dealing with this, too -- is when the people choose to remain blissfully ignorant of exactly what you're doing and why their changing demands cause so many problems.
-
yep we get that all the time.
also apparently the kobo comes with a web browser... its unsupported but still seems to work ok consider its on a eink display
-
I'm not sure I'd be able to browse the web on an eInk display. Those things are terrific for reading, but doing any sort of scrolling would be very very ouch.
Does it support paging through web pages? I would imagine that would make it a bit more tolerable.
-
Paging?
I basically just drag the screen around... and yeah, it feels like I'm abusing the screen doing that... But hey, it's still kinda useful.... I could look shit up on wikipedia.
-
I meant that instead of scrolling that it would go page by page. Doesn't sound like that's the case though.

Hey spec.... lol

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. ;)

Happy fucking newyears.
