I figured out a way to beat the 17th test chamber in Portal without doing any of the puzzles so I decided to make a video out of it.

Just a wee bit.
After all the hell that Source's physics engine put me through (launching me through portals that I merely walked through, slinging me into the path of very massive pistons, throwing me off of platforms into sludge for no damn reason, etc) it was nice to be able to use it to my advantage. :)

Part of orange box. Can't be bought individually, at least not yet. Also are you supposed to get back into that area with all the writing and candles? Looks like something you should see.

It's sort of a not-very-well-hidden secret -- a resting area from the previous test subject. It's meant to give the player the element of doubt.

I know, isn't it? :D It's short (I only spent a couple of hours on it my first time through) but it's the best few hours I've spent on a game in a while.

Yeah I noticed...I just beat it 20 minutes ago (just got finished eating) and i've done 2 of the advanced rooms so far....so all in conclusion it took me....about 2:30-3 hours to finish.
Wish it was longer though :(

Same here. Oh well, it's still kind of nice to have a game to kill time with (my current record for clearing the game from start to finish is 43.5 minutes...I intend to get below 40). And you'd better believe that when people start making quality custom levels I'm going to be all over that shit.

Yeah, that'll be awesome with custom levels. This game is friggin' killer, I hope the puzzle rooms will never end. Its great!
I'm still unlocking achievements right now. This second i'm doing the 30k fall through the celing/floor portals :O
Oh, and prior to that, I beat all the advanced levels.
That last level with the turret guns was a bitch.

For the 30K thing I think I'm seriously going to set it up and run to Chipotle or something. I literally sat in front of my computer playing PSP for a few minutes and that little bit of time wasn't long enough.
I think they went a wee bit overboard on that achievement. :P

Since the big pile of "surf control" at work, i'm forced to only give you the "pre-link" to the pictures of the Companion Cube.

And its just basically kind of a "joke"...if you watch spec's video, listen to what the voice is saying about it..."cannot speak and will not stab you" and what not. They got lots of little funny things in the game such as the "cake" for your party lol. But anyway, to sum it all up, the companion cube helps you through obstacles you wouldn't be able to get past (using it as a ledge to climb high walls and what not)

I was laughing all the way through Portal thanks to little things like that. The companion cube was the best thing ever. When I took a look at it and saw the hearts on the sides I just busted out laughing.

Woo, I beat Portal in 38 minutes, 30 seconds, including loading times. I think it's safe to say that I shattered my original 40 minutes goal.

Grats man. Now...have you beat all the advanced rooms and gold medaled the challenges? I just completed all the advanced rooms last night...tonight after work i'm gonna start doing the challenges (not sure how hard they are) :D
p.s: I laughed quite hard too when I saw the <3's on the cube, and also the stuff the robot chick sais is hilarious.
My favorite part is where you had to launch yourself up on a platform for the first time and she was like..."WEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

I beat all of the advanced rooms and did a few of the challenges. Some of the challenges are really hard. It's definitely going to take some time to get through them (not to mention a completely different way of doing the levels).
And oh yeah, GLaDOS's lines are awesome. One of my favorites was "If you are feeling tired from thirst, feel free to pass out." XD

It's good to see game designers making a game basically just to be funny. I love when game programmers insert funny things into their stuff, but it's becoming kinda rare.

On a sidenote...this is really late but because I just joined I have an excuse...nice job on figuring that out.
