Title: EPIC FUCKING WIN.
Post by: Bobbias on August 09, 2008, 12:34:29 AM
I just Saw Disturbed, Dragonforce, Walls of Jericho, Black Tide, The Red Chord and Mastadon live.

Yes, DRAGONFORCE, you did indeed read that correct.

Jesus FUCK they were loud. And if anyone says they suck live, they don't know shit. DF was fucking AMAZING. And the pits that were going on for DF were absolutely nuts. Disturbed kicked ass too, but I lost my girlfriend partway through the set, so I wasn't able to entirely enjoy it (until I managed to inhale enough weed fumes to get a pretty wicked buzz going). (Don't worry, we met her later on).

I can't get a decent shot of the shirt I got. Oh, and I got the new Walls of Jericho CD signed by all the members.

And now I'm going to go sleep, because I've been up for 26 hours straight.

Woot some one to discuss things with finally!

Also sounds like it was an awesome concert.

I live about 5 minutes away from Spec and I know last weekend that same concert series was playing in Pittsburgh but I had to work and not to mention I heard all of the tickets were sold out by the second week that it was announced.

Still would have loved to seen DF live.

MANOWAR IS LOUDER

But it sounds like it was fun 'n all.

Manowar isn't even the loudest any more. Gallows has surpassed Manowar's volume, though admittedly it was in a studio environment. http://www2.kerrang.com/2007/06/gallows_become_the_worlds_loud.html (LAWL @ the first comment, I can't believe anyone who listens to MCR and thinks they're better than gallows COULD write properly)

However, Dragonforce was definitely the loudest band I saw. (I didn't stick around for Slipknot)

Jesus Christ. This mallcore band have absolutely no right to shatter the record set by Manowar.

Unless they redeem themselves, I'm giving up all hope on the kings of metal.

Any of you guys ever see Opeth live? They're positively soul-poundingly loud. Not an exaggeration.

Mallcore?
Do you have any idea what Gallows is?

Hell, as far as I'm concerned, Mallcore isn't even a proper genre. Nobody agrees about what Mallcore is. Gallows is a Hardcore band from the UK. What I would call Mallcore is shit like new Metallica and new In Flames. Shitty attempts at making a marketable album by bands that used to actually be cool. Of course, there's so much crossover between that shit and Nu Metal that it's hardly worth even defining Mallcore.

Gallows - "Just because you sleep next to me doesn't mean your safe".

This is NOT Mallcore. This is Hardcore. Maybe you'd recognize this song:

Gallows - In The Belly of a Shark.

Yes, I do indeed like Gallows, but I also like the old stuff by both Metallica and In Flames.

ANYWAY.

This thread is supposed to be about the bands in the Mayhem Fest tour, not Manowar and Gallows.

So, I've got the new walls of Jericho Album - The American Dream, and it fucking KICKS ASS. Walls of Jericho is Metalcore, but instead of being based on regular heavy metal with some hardcore influence, it's heavily based around thrash metal with some wicked breakdowns and shit mixed in.

This is the opening track of their new album "The New Ministry". This one isn't too thrashy, but a lot of the other tracks on the CD are.

Yes, their lead singer is a chick. She's fucking insane.

My CD signed by all the members of the band (this was the best I could get from my webcam).
