I'm too afraid to watch any reviews until I finish the game myself.

51% complete...51 hours played, 'gon be a long one.

Overall I am enjoying the game. There are issue I do have with the game, and facial animations aren't one of them. Maybe I'm too biased to know, but, they don't look any better or worse than most other games, and they're probably better than a lot of other critically acclaimed games. Examples? Iunno, any bethesda game, but nobody seems to mind there.

But issues, let's see...
- the crafting system is garbage,
- sam talks way too goddamn much,
-the multiplayer is a shell of it's me3 self,
-the profile system feels tacked on and only useful when you're past level 50+,
-bugs bugs bugs too many to even list here,
-call me crazy but i feel there's delay in the aim which makes targeting harder than it needs to be,
-while freedom in leveling is fine the classless system is simply too overwhelming for the first 10-20 hours,
-other previewers mentioned how chatty your squadmates are while you're out and they do chat, as big as the game is, it feels few and far between, not to mention there isnt that much recurring dialogue when you talk to them on the ship periodically besides "great job on the last thing blabla"
-wheres the damn music? it's there but it's so quiet i forget theres even music in the game
-as i feared, open world game = repetitive filler missions, there is good content, but as you can see from my hours played and % completed, there's filler.
-remnant Sudoku puzzles
-minor complaint, no option to change temperature to farenheit. YES I KNOW 50 degrees celsius is hot, but I don't intuitively know how hot that is, just a toggle in the options menu please?
-talking to random npc's you have to be in a very specific spot to even press the button to talk, and it leads to situations where you're running around circles to find the sweet spot just to engage in dialogue
-shops only stock ONE augmentation, and when you want say...5-10 kinetic augmentations, you have to buy one, go to the elevator on the nexus to go to a random place, then go back for it to restock to buy ONE more. it's tedious, and not fun gameplay. Wouldn't be a problem if you could...
-NO CRAFTING AUGS, this confused me and goes to the shitty crafting system. you research an aug, you expect to be able to spend resources to then develop it? NO, you get one free copy for research (related bug mention, bio converter will not give you a free copy its bugged so you have to spend remnant research for some shield aug which will then award you your bio converter), which gives you the privlidge of...making them? no, finding them randomly in the world. if you want an aug, research it immediately and hope you get lucky enough to find a second or third one if you need them.
-cryo perks that give you periotic rewards. they're on a 45 minute timer, and you must be on your damn ship at the avp station to press the button, they don't stack, so if you're on planet for 4 hours and come to collect a reward once, you''re screwed out of like 5 ticks of that perk for not coming back in a timely fashion.
-ui isnt the most user friendly thing out there
-no control of your squad powers, this one is REALLY bad imo. fuck facial animations if you cant even CONSISTANTELY set up combos on command like you could do in the past games, it's inexcusable.

Angry mob of ea/bioware haters on the internet, you got your priorities wrong, there's a lot of legit gameplay problems that need more attention over some minor animation quirks.

Mind you this is my experience, your mileage may vary. Mind you, I do enjoy the game, but with as much time as I put into it, issues can start to pile up.

I mean I am a biased mass effect fan, and even I cant defend the ending of 3. However, the ending doesn't matter when this new game separates itself far away from that game.

Best I can to describe my 13 hours (I checked) logged, is think of this game like the first mass effect. It has somewhat similar feel of wonder and whatnot, and the overall tone is a lot more lighthearted than me2/3.

Currently playing an engineer profile, overload, cloak, flamethrower, using a sniper. Does the job so far, but i'm still playing around with my options. Tech was so weak in the trilogy (exceptions made for specific classes in the multiplayer of course) that it's kind of nice to see tech can hold it's own easier in this game.

Playing a little multiplayer as well, and i'm still not used to the combat. Something just feels off, it may be the aim delay on the console versions? PC didn't have this issue from my playing of the trial. It's hard to nail down, but it just doesn't feel as polished as me3mp. Take this all with a grain of salt though since im still playing bronze (and not doing well, I AM bad at this combat still), going to need more time. Friends I played me3mp with who got it on xbox one are really enjoying it though, so maybe I just need to unlock a few things and level a few more times to get a hold of it. Single player took a good 4-5 hours to start getting in a groove, I think multiplayer may take a bit longer than that. Also comparing release week andromeda multiplayer with years old full dlc me3mp just doesn't work, since andromeda has at least a year of support that is guaranteed to go into it.

tldr single player is getting pretty good, raincheck on multiplayer until i log 20-30 hours into the sonbitch

That being said, as far as I'm concerned, what happens in Shepard's story stays in Shepard's story. I just hope that they don't pull that kind of bullshit in this new series.

Theres reference to stuff in the first game in my time so far, but it's light. Genophage this, liara protheans stuff that, stuff that feels relevant to the andromeda effort for the most part. So far it's just fluff. If there is some bullshit later on, I'll spoiler tag it in a future post.

No more Shepard, just Pathfinder, or Rider, or Scott, or Sarah (assuming you do not change the default name, they will use your first name when appropriate). Kind of nice people not strictly calling you one thing tbh.

I'm SO over all the drama over this game. People are just butthurt for no goddamn reason, but the game is fine. If the game wasn't made by bioware, I GUARANTEE nobody would be talking about this stuff. I'm fine with people hating on a game, but like, don't buy it, don't waste your energy on it? I don't like mobas, but I don't spend my free time shitting on them on the moba reddits. The internet makes me almost feel ashamed to call myself a mass effect fan.

Ohh but we're talking about actually playing the game and not judging cherrypicked gameplay footage? Well I have it, and I have played it.

I'm only 10 hours in, and it is a slow burn, so don't expect to be engaged right away. It does start to hit its stride when you start driving around the jeep.

Having issues with the combat, but partly trying to get used to ps4 controller again. That and I don't even know what to make of my character, no class system means I can do anything...and not knowing how all the powers work in this new game, I feel I can't avoid a respec because I'm just going to have to put points into whatever until I can find something that I can jive well with. Too much freedom? Not a bad thing, but I'd like some direction. The mobility in this game is part of why i think combat is hard, in the good way? You can jump, dash, jump dash, most buildings you can jump on, it feels really nice.

Will talk more as I put more hours into the game, currently just put a base thing on the desert planet, to give you an idea of where I'm at. I am still super early, but I feel mass effect fans should be safe in purchasing this game.

It's just Drack, he can't be spoilers at this rate, but pointing it out just in case.

On Zelda, Links Awakening is amazing, I lost my original copy but I got it on 3ds because I wanted to buy a rom on the worst possible device to buy a rom on. Never played the capcom gbc zelda games though, considering how much I enjoy links awakening, I don't know why I've never tried em. I do intend to play them some time.

On the switch, Yeah a friend of mine is making the same point of waiting until they release an updated version of the thing, and if I want to follow some common sense, I'll probably wait until that.

And on Andromeda...

(and I payed 5 bucks for ea access to play some multiplayer on pc even though my videocard is ancient and plays the thing on lowest settings)

But.......then I got distracted by trying Killer Instinct on pc, and it actually runs pretty good. Definitely going to buy the full game in my post Andromeda pre Tekken 7 window. Then there's yooka laylee and persona 5 in like two weeks, videogame companies releasing all the videogames I want in the entire year at the same time.

https://www.twitch.tv/vladgd  Should be playing Andromeda on that sonbitch starting LATE tuesday, most likely all day Wed/Thu before I go back to work on Friday. Assuming ps4 doesn't choose to block all content"cough " the entire ending of ff7 "cough", I intend on streaming my entire playthrough.

I'd have to say links awakening is mine.

New Zelda looks great, but I can't justify getting a console for that one single game. Definitely going to try it when I end up with a switch in the future though. Like you seriously expect me to not get it when it's going to have ultra street fighter 2? Yall knows how much of a street fighter 2 fanboy I am 'round these parts.

Pretty much going to do what I did with the ps4. Want it, but can't justify it due to tiny library, wait a year or so for a decent library of games then snag one.

Kinda wanted to split it with my girlfriend, but part of me worries that the next nintendo handheld...is just going to be the switch, and if that ends up the case, we'd both want to have one.

(and expect some long tldr paragraph book novel post in a week or more after andromeda hits)

I keep thinking about getting one of those to make an emulation box out of.

One of these days I tell ya...

Not to mention having a functional computer for under $40.00 is crazy, we live in the future.

Figure I'd update because...why not? Too damn cold to wear leggings and sandals that day(the fuck do ladies wear these things in winter, they offer NO WARMTH), but goddamn Michigan weather is flipflopping hard this year. 62 degrees in the middle of goddamn FEBRUARY then later in the night it dips to the low 30's. Figure I'd test the getup and I don't think it looks too awkward, does it? Either way it's just at the local campus at like 10-11pm for uhh...pokemon go purposes...gotta catch em...not a bad excuse to go outside and walk though.

Nice that the security guards don't give a fuck that we're only there to catch pokemon, doesn't hurt that half of them also play the game and we occasionally discuss the game in passing.

tldr, im a fashion god, internet badass, and got 4 ten kilometer eggs that day 8)

Another thing I am curious about, having dipped my toes into the programming ocean (not having gone far AT ALL), it made me realize that this shit is wayyyyy more complicated than I had originally thought (and your post verified this). If I put time into one language, will it therefore make other languages way easier to comprehend? I know each language is different in what it does, and the whole higher level lower level languages and whatnot, but if I put time into python (basically because people say it's one of the easier languages, and you can actually get some actual work done with the thing) will it make...iunno C easier to understand even if it is a lower level language?

I'm teetering on piddling around with this stuff on the side as like a hobby type of thing, but then I get bogged down by "well I don't know anything and even tutorials are way over my head" territory.

I blame this asshole for spiking my interest since his videos typically have a goal, and he vocally goes through his thought process as he gets stuff down.

I'm curious what kind of computer wizardry is required to do stuff like that.

As of recent I've been more interested in learning programming for fun, but apparently I'm dumb enough to find even installing python to be challenging, so that's where I'm at right now, lol.

I've been away from Infected Mushroom since they started experimenting. I mean they had some good stuff, but also some bad stuff. While I respect trying to do new things, doesn't mean I'm going to like it.

Their latest album doe...

breh, they're bak. This album is going to be a go to jogging album for me.

Not to mention the album cover is sick as hell.

I don't even listen to electronic music much at all anymore(i'm a hip hop head now a days), but this is bringing me back.

Speaking of 20% off...Civilization VI is doing that right now, and I couldn't resist.

I'm one of those people who like the civ games while at the same time being horrible at them.

How doth I prince difficulty or higher? Going to spend my first few games on chieftain.

I can respect being against pre ordering, I do see where y'all are coming from. In my case, if it's a game I know for 100% certain I want to play at launch, I am going to pre order. If it's a game I want to play, but I don't need to play release day (civ 6, and ff15 come to mind) I'll just wait for a price drop.

Basically what I am saying is blame Amazon for giving me 20% off from preordering.

I mean as shitty as the ending was, the game before that was really good. Albiet, IT HAD QUITE A BIT OF FLAWS THE OTHER TWO GAMES DIDN'T HAVE, I won't let my fanboyism blind me of that.

I wouldn't not buy a good game because of a poor ending though. Not to mention Andromeda isn't a trilogy, so it's not going to have the burdon of 5 years and two other games ontop of it, should be a fresh start.

Just finished me3 yesterday, and I can agree on the ending being horrible. It's like you're collecting war assets throughout the entire game for............nothing...........

Either way, as bad as it is, I'm super intrigued by the synthesis "ending". It's poorly executed in game, but the idea behind it has loads of cool factor.

(still no cerberus harrier, RNG WHYYYYYYYYYYYY)'

I'm just casually doing multiplayer for a week or so before I cancel my xbox gold again. If I want to play more after that, I "cough" did things I wasn't supposed to do to get over 150 million credits "cough" on the pc version, just to know what the harrier feels like before I play Andromeda.

I'd totes be down for some multiplayer action when Andromeda hits, after I finish the single player stuff. Preordered for ps4.

I had another Guinness today, since I had a Murphy's earlier in the week. STARTING to warm up on it, but there's just one thing for both beers that I am not a fan of...

...too damn watery, I have no clue why everybody talks up Guinness as "man it's a beer that's like a meal!!R!!!!!", when it's as watery and I'd even argue EVEN MORE watery than light beer.

It's not even me saying that to hate it, since I periodically buy cans to see if I can enjoy one, but it's just watery. I even do the super aggressive pour to get maximum head, but it fades about half way through, and you're left with water with a little bit of foam at the end.

But my favorite beers are imperial stouts that absorb light like a black hole and are thicker than motor oil, so it's probably never intended for a person as myself. Still would be a nice thing on my go to roster since it's commonly available. I do think I prefer other commonly available brands like Icehouse, or Labatt Blue over Guinness though.
