Gaming / Hardkore Atomic (FFR simfile submission)
« on: December 04, 2007, 12:18:48 AM »
A simfile I worked on for FFR that I just recently submitted, hoping it will get into the game.

This is probably my best simfile. I definitely put a bit of thought and effort into making it. It's not SUPER CHALLENGING or technical, but it is pretty fun. I've sent it to a few others who thought it was pretty fun.

Song is by Canblaster and I rated it a 10 based on the 1-12 ratings for FFR, but i'd say it would be an average SM 11 or 12. The trickest part of the song is the 42nd burst runs near the end (it's obvious where it is lol) and maybe the triplet jacks. Other than that it's pretty straightforward, no holds or mines or hands (since this is for FFR after all).

Anyways:

Yeah I know it's early and whatnot, but is anyone going to see it? I'll be out of town by the time it comes out for winter break so I might see it then. It looks like a pretty good blockbuster to me. I haven't read the book or seen the other movies based off the book, but for some reason the whole infection thing sounds like a 28 days later thing to me (which I of course also haven't seen...if someone can clarify if it is similar in any way).

They still haven't rated it yet and it comes out 12/14, so obviously they're debating whether it's going to be PG-13 or R and I really hope for R. This is one of the few blockbuster movies I really want to see and if it gets PG-13, then every annoying loud as fuck child 10 and under is gonna end up going with their parents which i'd prefer not happen :/.

Computing / The story of my computer...
« on: November 21, 2007, 03:30:03 AM »
So it was this past Saturday that I was on the computer with nothing better to do for virtually, the entire day. I'm looking at random sites googling stuff browsing 4chan etc. All is fine when I go to bed, shut my monitor off as normal. I wake up the next morning to get on and find I have a virus. I'm getting a constant popup of fake spyware/trojan/malware alerts and i'm going frantic, this is the first major virus i've had on my computer for the 3 years i've had it. Eventually I had to download a program (anti-virus was ineffective) and run it safe mode. After hours and a wasted day fucking with my computer, I (somewhat) resolved it. I was still getting annoying IE popups and anti-virus Trojan alerts (which they couldn't do anything) so I kinda dealt with it for a couple of days.
So Monday came and it was back again (the virus I had was PSW.x-vir for reference...it sucks ass getting rid of it). Ass loads of IE popups and my task manager was disabled. My hard drive was obviously fucked and it was only a matter of time till it was unusable. Well...that happened overnight Monday.
I get it working better than it was...no popups or real annoyances in sight, so I decide to IM someone I haven't IMed in awhile and end up talking about random stuff (it was zeppy gorrila I IMed, if you remember him) and I eventually end up chatting about my virus dilemma. He recommends Peerguardian so I download it and it worked fine (after about half an hour of tinkering to get updates to work properly). I used Hijackthis to get rid of any traces of the virus and spyware and ran anti virus one last time before going to bed.
So...I wake up Tuesday morning and apparently my computer restarted and was at the login screen. I figured it was an automatic update so I logged in and...

Fuck.

My hard drive was raped.

I logged in and it froze at desktop. The little tray at the bottom never appeared, nor did any icons or programs. I tried to go to task manager to start explorer.exe and task manager was disabled. I was stuck with a vegetable hard drive. That obviously ruined my school day as you can assume.
Tuesday afternoon I get out of school and obviously I had to reformat. Never had to do that before but I figured it out easily enough. It took about an hour to do, including deleting the drives and creating a new C drive, formatting NTSF
on to the C drive (when prompted in Windows XP setup) and lastly, installing Windows XP. I was worried I would need a new computer (which I do regardless, it would just suck if I had to get one now) but so far it has ran fine.
It took hours to get the correct drivers setup (graphics was easy...sound card was a bitch with my computer).
The good out of this is that my computer appears virus free so far. I'll see if all the malware I had just somehow magically sneaks up again and rapes my hard drive again. I have all my space back obviously. Only things i've downloaded are vital or what I use most often (Firefox, trillian, adaware, anti virus, and peerguardian). I'll worry about games later.
The bad is because I couldn't get to my old hard drive even in safe mode, all my old stuff was lost. My music, ebooks, videos, rare ass stepmania file collection, custom r9 ITG2 PC and some other good stuff. Weird thing is i'm not TOO devastated by that loss...most of it was replaceable and what wasn't is my fault for being stupid with my computer. Maybe that's a good thing i'm not upset by it.
Now the REALLY GOOD thing is that the extra space helped me in FFR because there's virtually no lag now, so I ended up getting the hardest Skill Token in FFR. If you don't play FFR, skill tokens are requirements on certain songs that will earn you a neat looking token to your FFR profile and unlock a secret song for you. There's currently 91 Skill Tokens, with the hardest to unlock being Otaku Speedvibe [Oni], with the requirement to AAA a For Masters Only difficulty song (only 60 people have gotten it since it was released in July including me :P):

(lol nice typo)

Anyways the moral of this story is:

Don't be fucking dumb with your computer. I'm sure as hell running my anti virus and adaware often (and always leaving it on) and keeping Peerguardian on all the time also.

And you'll become really leet at FFR :).

Gaming / Beat Beat Revolution- IIDX flash game
« on: October 28, 2007, 11:49:17 PM »
Possibly the most amazing flash music game i've ever seen. Play it. NOW.

http://bbr.eucaly.net/bbr2nd/

Explanation:

-Default key setup is left shift zsxdcfv but can be changed in options.
-When you first start the game, it will ask you to make a DJ name (my personal DJ name is LAB!). This will save your scores and data for gallery unlocks and other stuff.
-To select a song hit enter, to go to options hit tab (same to exit), to go back hit delete.

Have fun!

Two and half hours to install because the stupid reset/eject clip wouldn't go in properly. It ended with me nail gluing it (well my brother did that lol). I have a few general questions though:

1. Should there be a dull bumpy noise from it (not really a rattle as if somethings loose, just kind of a dull buzzing sound)?

2. When I get my swap magic and open the lid, will the disc still be spinning? I tested it out on an AR code disc and put in another game (I knew it wouldn't read the game) but the disc was still spinning.

3. Has anyone else had a slightly worse disc tray afterwards, like it won't open as it used to (mostly the same, just a tad slower)?

This was for a fat model PS2, not a slim one.

No. Fucking. Way.

I don't know of any news article, so i'll just quote their site:

Torrentspy Acts to Protect Privacy

Sorry, but because you are located in the USA you cannot use the search features of the Torrentspy.com website.Torrentspy's decision to stop accepting US visitors was NOT compelled by any Court but rather an uncertain legal climate in the US regarding user privacy and an apparent tension between US and European Union privacy laws.

I'm pissed. This is where i got all my torrents from.

Proxy time >_<.

I'm pretty sure most of the people here already know what it's about, so i'm gonna get straight to the point. It's on google video right now, so here's your perfect chance to watch it if you haven't already seen it...and it's definitely one of those movies you're gonna want to see at least once in your lifetime:

Might wanna watch before it's deleted. All I can say about the ending is it's sad, ironic, and leaves a lot of discussion room open.

Introductions / Hi guys
« on: August 19, 2007, 01:41:24 AM »
In The Groove, also known as In Teh Grave or simply ITG, is the unholy bastard child of Satan's puppet company, Roxor. It was created to destroy the empire that was Konami (known in Canadia as Konameee) by being better, faster, and harder. ITG players are usually covered in herpes and are in constant pain from their persecution after they betrayed DDR, the one true dance game. Playing ITG is condemned by Super Pope, as well as Popezilla and God or whoever you believe in.

ITG was first released in 2152, then brought back in time to 1936, where ITG artist Danny Glover met L. Ron Hubbard. The music in ITG is based on the work of 5 artists. One of which, not to name any names (Nina), snuck into the other artists' rooms, killed them, and stole their songs and chips.

 Hazards

The ITG2 dedicabs have all been fixed with a number of defense mechanisms, such as land mines and buzz saws. This is to prevent any sabotage from the DDR loyalists as well as to keep inexperienced n00bs from spreading their filth all over the pad. Roxor was also able to create harder songs with more difficult ratings after sacrificing two Iraqi prisoners of war to Satan. Also, Jewish ITG lobbyist Jack Abramoff bribed several Republican senators into passing a law allowing the use of 3 and 4 arrow jumps (and even more than 4 arrows at once, for mutated freaks), which can play hell with your joints on playing doubles. This lead to further injuries after its release, putting our nation's Asian population at risk. Lastly, mdawg is a cock sucking shit head.

 DDR vs. ITG

As In The Groove converted more pious Christians into witches, Konami began to look for ways to bring this evil empire to its knees. In 2000, Naoki Maeda forged a mighty song from the fires of Mount Doom and christined it "MAXX to the XXXimum". When it was tested by the focus groups, however, it was very unpopular since they knew that if they let this song come out, ITG would be obliterated with its suckitude. So they rejected it, saying it was "too hard" (of course, what they actually meant to say was that it was "too awesome" since they were demons of ITG and liked pretending they were cool). Naoki remixed the song and released it as "The legend of MAX", which was still a song of epic proportions.

Roxor took this opening to release Vertex^2, the song responsible for thousands of nerd deaths. Konami retaliated by creating Fascination MAXX and CHAOS, two unholy creations that defy nature and the law by exceeding the legal number of stops and speed changes. The release of Fascination ~eternal love mix~ attempted to put the final nail in the coffin, as well as fix the timing issues on the already fucked up DDR SuperNOVA machines, but ITG2 is still going strong and gaining strength. This ultimately became a contest between DDR and ITG as to who could kill the most kids. PIU Pro was just there.

The final blow from Roxor came in the form of a little kitty, little kitty mine mine to be exact. This ungodly song has murdered hundreds of thousands of nerds and almost caused the demise of the 4-panel dancing game. Many players have tried passing this song but the end result is always the same. The world record stands at just 2.63%. At the ITG world cup in 2006, it was the random song chosen for the tie breaker but even the mad skillz of lilq and damien were not up to the challenge. A Warning to all who plan to attempt this song in the future: Make sure you have life insurance and don't forget to bring a towel. *Update - July 27, 2007* As of today, the world record stands at 13.37% by Chuck Norris.

Before the lawsuit became completely legal, Roxor spewed out secret Beta versions of ITG3 before Konami landed the final blow, which ended up turning into a full-blown war. Noaki headed the DDR army whilst Kyle Ward, epic step/song maker extraordinare, lead the ITG army in an all-out battle royale. This great conflict was officially documented by an ITG crony formerly known as "TAKA" in a book called "The War of the Arrows", which accurately depicted the epic, bloody battles which took place during that time, including the destruction of the world when the bioterroristic Jokr never got Kyle Ward and ate a bomb, exploded, and infected the world with STDs.
