Computing / Spectere I need your smarts
« on: January 12, 2018, 04:50:35 PM »
I can't seem to get these stupid Tyler Technology folks on the line about this. I've bugged them so much about other issues I think they are just ignoring me at this point.

This website I use for work all the time. Every day I have to clear my cookies for it, or it doesn't work. It's really bizarre. Unless I clear my cookies first, I get this error when I click the sign in button.

Any ideas what might be causing this? It just randomly started happening about a month ago.

Gaming / Pianista (rhythm game app)
« on: January 03, 2018, 08:56:07 PM »
Just started playing this about a week ago. Thought you guys might be interested if you haven't already seen it. Definitely best rhythm game I've tried so far on mobile.

This composition took me a few tries to beat but I did really well this run (specifically I had a hard time with 1:13 area). I'm not on master difficulty yet but it gets pretty rough on technical difficulty the last half of the tour, which is where I'm at.

Random Chat / Can I get banned plz?
« on: January 03, 2018, 05:32:55 PM »
So in the last 6 months I've been banned from 5 FB groups. Two Skyrims groups (today's bans), a private photography group, a podcast group, and a Destiny 2 group. Ian I think I touched on this in a random thread at some point here about moderation.

I have a serious, serious problem with authority on social media I'm realizing. The one Skyrim group I really liked so I'm kind of bummed about it.

All of these bans have been the same situation, mostly. With the exception of the last ban was me "breaking the rules" for posting about the other Skyrim FB group ban (I posted screenshots of my convo that got me banned because it was ridiculous, which ironically got me banned in that group too since it had the some of the same mods). 0A moderator tries to flex on me, or is being an asshole to someone else for something stupid or for no reason at all, and I call them out on it. You'd think I would have learned by now but I can not keep my mouth shut when moderators start swinging their dicks around. Especially on FB, which in my opinion already has FB guidelines and rules so moderation is completely arbitrary. If someone is being a bully just because it makes them feel good, I'm not just gonna grovel at their feet and kiss their asses like everyone else does so they don't get banned and get favored.

I bring this on myself and I'm not saying I'm innocent here because I know the ban is coming before I start laying into them, so I'm not looking for anything in particular. This is just where I'm gonna vent about it.

The amount of censorship that goes on in FB groups is seriously ridiculous. I feel like most people are not equipped to manage other human beings properly. Especially the young 18-22ish ones who want to prove themselves. Who wasn't passionate about everything at that age? I get it. I just ain't gonna tolerate it.

Bitch bitch moan moan people are idiots.

Gaming / [Video] Wife & I Demolish Our Enemies
« on: December 07, 2017, 09:28:44 AM »
Sometimes in Smite they have a "Match of the Day" 2v2 mode called "Joust the Two of Us" which is normally a 3v3 mode (Joust). Sitting next to each other communicating helps a lot I imagine but we almost always get the enemy to surrender the game with these two characters.

Gaming / Black Friday 2017

What all did you guys get this year on sale? I really miss the old daily sales format it's a shame they leveled everything out. Deal were so much better and it make it almost like a mini game to check daily on Steam.

I'm kind of at that point where I try not to buy new games because of all the crap I'm currently balls deep in.

I did however pick up The Forest which reminds me a lot of 7 Days to Die expect WAY more optimized and actually creepier. I never knew until 7 Days but survival horror seems to be one of my favorite genres these days.

I'm actually wondering if now is a good time to buy stock in EA with the recent plummet.

Thoughts?

Random Chat / Smartphone went to black screen, never came back.
« on: November 10, 2017, 03:44:13 PM »
So yeah it's probably largely due to the fact I have an original LG Stylo which is over 4 years old, but I just have no idea why this happened.

Phone is acting like it's on, I can hear sounds and I can be called, but the screen is perpetually black. Tried removing the battery, soft resetting, nothing works.

I'm not so upset I'm gonna have to get a new phone honestly, just moreso curious as to what the hell could have caused this. I made a phone call and when I went to hang up the screen was black and never recovered. Also I have had no ability to use Wi-Fi for about 6 months now. Out of the blue it just completely stopped working on all Wi-Fi networks.

Random Chat / I feel violated...
« on: November 08, 2017, 10:34:33 AM »
This is pretty off topic for this forum but, just curious what you guys think I should do.

I live 2 doors down from a crazy woman in my complex. She's probably about 50 years old loud obnoxious black lady. I've been living next to her for 4 years, and she's legit banana sandwhich. She's one of those people if you are unfortunate enough to catch eyes with her, she's yelling at you or coming up to you just to hear herself talk and bitch about something you did or someone else did or whatever. We had an incident about 8 months ago where I threatened to call the cops at her because she was being belligerent after pounding on my door needing a ride somewhere. She's an alcoholic. Everyone in my building knows her as the crazy lady basically I could write many paragraphs about her antics over the last few years. Her husband is actually really chill and cool I have no idea how he deals with her.

Anyway, we have since moved on from that and things have been as civil as they can be. I try to humor her and keep things pleasant to get through this last lease (up in May thank god). Well, things got a little TOO civil last night. She wanted me to come in and look at something for her on her computer. While I'm in there she grabs my hand, then touches my ass. This made me SUPER uncomfortable obviously so I started making my exit realizing I fucked up even allowing myself to be drawn into her lair. She goes to give me a hug and kisses me twice on the neck at which point I pushed her away. Then she gets this attitude with me about pushing her away. I told her it's fine I didn't mean any disrespect but I had to go.

Sure I shit I get home and my wife is like WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!? Bitch had lipstick on and marked up my neck. She knew it was Sherita the crazy lady so it's not like she was threatened by her or anything, in fact she kind of laughed at me but the more she thought about it the more upset she got. Myself included.

I'm at my wits end with this bitch. I want to keep things civil but this crossed the line I feel like.

Any suggestions on how to handle this situation?

Random Chat / Anime
« on: November 03, 2017, 12:30:30 PM »
Just curious if anyone else watches Anime. I stopped watching it around 2008 and only recently this year started watching it again. My wife is pretty obsessed with it so I've been caving in.

Kamisama Kiss was just too ridiculous for me. Had it's funny bits but seems it's meant for like teen girls. Samurai Champloo was pretty sweet. Got her to watch DBZ finally.

Watched season 1 of Sword Art and it was a pile of steaming shit I can't believe people liked that show. I was super intrigued the whole season, driven by the "why" as to why the creator did it. When he finally revealed the creator and asked why he did it, the answer he gave literally made me get out of my seat and put my middle finger on the TV.

The biggest draw for me to date though is Attack on Titan. The monologues and time freezing thoughts that last like a full episode were ridiculous in some areas but overall this is a really appealing anime to me. I'm not allowing myself any spoilers from the manga community and maybe all my questions are what keep me so captivated (that and the SICK battle animations). If it ends up like Sword Art though where the answer is there is no answer I'm gonna lose my shit.

Gaming / What is the best rhythm game of all time?
« on: October 31, 2017, 05:18:58 PM »
Let's do a top 3 personal favorite rhythm games ever made and why.

My List:

1. Rock Band

To this day since the release of the first installment I have "Rock Band Nights" at my place with friends and family (Still using RB3). It's the only game that ever really got lots of "casuals" into the genre and is responsible for so many awesome memories for me. Odds are I will be playing this game periodically into a ripe old age.

2. Guitar Hero

I am a little biased because out of all the rhythm games I've played this is my best in terms of skill, and probably the most time I've ever spent on any rhythm game instrument. It's a double edged sword because Activision totally raped this franchise and killed it, but at the same time I was treated to a lot of different peripheral options, and like Rock Band lots of people were actually getting into a genre I was always a major geek for.

3. Frequency (PS2)

Frequency popped my rhythm game cherry in 2001 my freshman year of high school, and paved the way for my future obsession with DDR and anything rhythm based. Not only that but it required you to be quite precise so the difficulty factor was definitely there despite only having 3 buttons. Anyone who could get through expert using only their thumb on the face buttons was a god. It also introduced me to an entirely new breed of music I hadn't really been introduced to before.

What about you guys?

Random Chat / Microtransactions Bandwagon
« on: October 18, 2017, 04:47:09 PM »
I've been on this train for a long time, and this seems to be the year lots of gamers are finally jumping on board. Probably largely due to the fact publishers are really pushing the envelope.

I feel like the only one that isn't really upset at Activision for this microtransaction matchmaking patent, or EA for sucking the life out of all these studios, or WB and all of the above for microtransactions and loot boxes in full priced games in general. These publishers have a duty to their shareholders that completely supersedes our feelings about their business practices. The anger comes from ruining our games. Something that is overall relatively new to gaming over the last 6-7 years.

Although I do still hold a grudge against EA for buying the NFL franchise in 2005 when 2K was kicking their ass in the football games department. I have never bought another Madden game since 2005 because I thought that was a seriously bitch move to monopolize the franchise.

My philosophy has always been to just not buy this shit. It's that simple. I am a DIE HARD fan of the Mass Effect franchise, but I refused to purchase Andromeda because I could see the direction EA has been going and knew I was better off waiting to see what people say about it. I honestly don't know if I will ever play the game and yes it saddens me to see Bioware in their current state, but ultimately that's a studio's own fault in the end. Like every studio who gets suckered into these publishers.

Maybe times are different now, where being an indie developer doesn't require publishers as much as it used to with platforms like Steam, but I feel like the Indie genre is blowing up more than ever thanks to this mess over the last few years. I'm actually really optimistic about the future of gaming thanks to this new era of "Attack on Publisher".

What do you guys think?

Random Chat / I got married! (pics)
« on: October 11, 2017, 06:17:10 PM »
I know I posted the neat little scroll invitation on here before, but it has since come and gone. I'm officially a very very lucky married man. The wedding was Skyrim/Game of Thrones styled. We even passed on our amulets of Mara during the ceremony. Everything turned out super incredible though I'd share a few images from it. Our outfits and the banners were hand crafted by her mother who is incredibly talented. The banners are our actual sigils from the ancestry website.

Her sister made our crowns out of clay. They are all crazy artistic.

Hoozah!

Random Chat / Youtube Copyright
« on: September 15, 2017, 01:14:36 PM »
I know it's been a hot topic the last couple years but I'm so sick of YT's nazi regime that is content ID. Deadlocking Jim Sterling style doesn't even work anymore.

Yesterday I was live streaming a workout video so others could follow along and it got claimed halfway in the stream (which, how the hell does shows like Family Guy, South Park etc etc not get hit mid live stream?) and they just had a YT logo in place of the video. I didn't see that coming because of all the live streaming of shows I see all the time.

Then this morning I uploaded a wedding video I filmed a few months back. I sent the link to my client and she comes back that it's been removed. Apparently Aretha Franklin's Respect when claimed is not viewable in the US and 4 other countries. Wtf....

Is creative commons even a thing anymore? I feel like the internet stifles creativity these days more than ever before. I really miss the days when big money was still internet retarded and didn't have their greasy grubby hands in everything we do.

So irritating.

Is there a way to post Embed YT videos here? I've tried a couple times to put the embed code in between [ html] [ /html] and it doesn't work (spaces after open bracket for posting).
