For the past month or so, Vyhd, Matt1360, and I have been making breakthroughs implementing full ITG functionality into regular StepMania 3.95. Through collaboration, we have managed to take StepMania 3.95 and mimic ITG behavior on the known cabinet types for the game by trying to retrace the steps of the ITG dev team. It started off as a fun project, then sort of boomed into a possible replacement for official ITG and then some.

What has been implemented so far in terms of ITG Functionality:
- ScreenArcadePatch: ability to update the game through machine revisions (.itg or .bxr files)
- ScreenArcadeDiagnostics: hardware, network, and I/O diagnostics screen. For this to work on windows, the LibUSB filter driver must be installed (http://libusb-win32.sourceforge.net).
- PIUIO: though full functionality is still not implemented, will still work on a dedicab
- RageFileDriverCrypt: reading of proprietary file system used for ITG2 arcade systems.
- Custom song support: songs loaded from file in an r21/r23-like fashion

Basically, we're rewriting ITG2 AC to be open-source, higher quality, and have more features. :) There are also PC builds available for Windows and Linux. All the stuff listed above is implemented and confirmed working. If you wanna give it a go, head over to http://openitg.gr-p.com/

I've gotten back to playing Legend of Dragoon again. For a game with MASSIVE HOMG PIXELS EVERYWHERE, it's quite fun. :)

I say "gotten back" since I started on it when I was 11 or 12. Naturally, I've forgotten the whole plot, and I tried to pick up my old file anyway. Right now, it's stuck on disk 4 in a desert that I can't get out of. :(

We got OpenITG running on an upgraded arcade cabinet (specifically, the Beaver Valley Mall's) :V

I've been up for over 24 hours and I don't care because I'm still psyched.

Teacher: "...So, Othello is referred to in the play as the 'black Moor'."
Random jock: "Is that where we get s'mores from?"
Teacher: "No! You don't eat black people!"

I am fairly certain VSync doesn't take effect if StepMania is windowed. :-\

Hey, yeah, that. :) The video description says what I'd normally say here, so I'll leave it at "once I track down my laptop, I'll post the songfile and course file, unchanged".

Glad you like the course - I'm working on a few for a song collection, incidentally, so there may be more stuff like this before too long. :)

Just in case you didn't know this, Onyx and Affinity are both Kyle Ward. I'm positive of it.

http://www.scirecordings.com/index/artists.html

The art on this page and the random inclusion of both, their blank profiles (contrast with Color Freq), the fact that Affinity and Onyx were both on the first Pump Pro betas (no licensing issues), the similarity in sound (Y2Z blows this one apart more than any other), Kyle Ward's general fetish for aliases, the fact that basically no info can be traced on either alias outside of ITG/Pump Pro, etc. etc. etc.

Also, fear KAW - Lord of Darkness.

Hah, agreed with Spectere. To be a gamer is to like games. Not necessarily liking everything you've ever played, but being able to see past graphics or system. I used to play Mendel Palace a lot, and it's one of my favourites to date. (Click to play on nintendo8.com). The basic premise is, your character is on a set of tiles you flip to A, find power-ups/stars, and B, smash things into walls. Great fun. :)

To get back on topic, I get really pissed off at people who curse for its own reason. They haven't picked up on this, but curse words are much more effective if the person using them doesn't use them all the time, and most of them think they're "fuckin' hXe and shit" 'cos of it. Guess what, no, replacing every "um" normal people say with "fuckin'..." doesn't make you cool. It makes you sound stupid and it diminishes the words' effectiveness.

Allow me to demonstrate my point. FUCK YOU.

Now, imagine someone who curses every other sentence doing the same thing.

Point taken?

Hiya, Mark. :P

I'm in Ohio now, actually...heh.

Huzzah!

So, how busy are you gonna be this upcoming weekend / next weekend? :P

Also, thanks for the name change. This is my standard online name now, so it seemed more sensible to use that. :)

My GF's MSN display pic was that for a while... I know of Death Note (She found it just after the first scanlations came out), and AMV Hell 4 used WAY too much death Note. Honestly, it seemed like every 4th clip used it. I got tired of that really quickly.

True, but Death Note is a new anime, so it's kind of expected. Can't say I mind too much either, since most of them were really good. (The one I'm referencing is one of my favourites from the thing, heh)

As for what's up,

Pet project. Cross-platform code for StepMania 3.95. I have literally one more function to implement (SCREENMAN->OverlayMessage) and one to fix (banner loading) and it's done. :) Naturally, once I get a guy to compile it, I'll post it around here.

Hey. ;)

Not too much to say, I guess, but I am actually bookmarking this now so I remember to visit it.

@Spec: Mind changing my name on here to "Vyhd"? Also, warn me the next time you're coming up to Ohio and we'll talk NPCH or something more awesome. Also, happy birthday. You're officially as old as my sister. :)

I'll be lurking around, then. Have fun!

EDIT: The avatar/title make more sense if you've seen Death Note and AMV Hell 4, respectively. :) Good anime series, and I highly recommend looking into it.
