Music Associations
« on: November 13, 2009, 01:26:49 AM »
It's pretty common to play music in the background while you play games or do other activities, right?  RIGHT?  If you're anything like me, you might wind up forming an association in your head between the two activities if you listen to, say, a particular album or song enough.

This thread is where you'd document such tomfoolery.  If simply playing an album immediately makes you think of something, post that shit here.

Here's my list (so far):

Linkin Park / Hybrid Theory - Quake III
Son of Rust / Vicious Cycles - The Barrens in World of Warcraft
Queen of the Damned OST - Commander Keen: Episode 4 (don't ask)
The Offspring / Ignition - Counter-Strike Beta (specifically, cs_siege)

I'm sure there's more.  I'll think of them as I listen to the music again, I'm sure. :p

65daysofstatic - The Fall of Math: Parkour (goes great with PK)
Tchaikovsky - Symphony 4 op. 36: Garry's Mod (Mainly in Spacebuild)
Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet / Follow the Reaper: Calculus III (Study music)
Angra - Temple of Shadows: Plane rides
Kamelot - Epica: Snow

There's also a number of songs from the doujin artist eru, which I often substitute for the regular BG music in some levels of SSBB.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

I've also got the Kamelot - Epica: Snow association, lol.

Though I really can't think of any other associations, I'm sure I've got a couple.
This is going in my sig. :)

I've only done this once, but the Neo Tokyo soundtrack is great for studying.

When i HAD a 360, if i was getting revved up in CoD4, i would pop on Disturbed on random/shuffle/repeat and just go to town on motherfuckers.

anything else... either techno online radio or podcasts when i'm grinding in WoW.
I wish that cake was a lie. :(

I guess he never figured out what Willis was saying :/

65daysofstatic - One Time for All Time - L4D, or generally anything apocalyptic. I am convinced this album will be the soundtrack to the zombie apocalypse.
Skream - Skream! - STALKER: SoC
Drop the Lime - We Never Sleep - Tripping so hard I can't even see straight. I swear this album is made out of drugs.
Agalloch - The Mantle - Terrible, terrible fucking weather.
Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory - Mowing the lawn... @_@

I might remember some more later on.

Oh yeah, mowing my lawn is basically nothing but Slayer and Lamb of God.

When I mow the lawn, I usually listen to some chill hip-hop, so I can zone out into the music, and just do what I need to. I don't have a small lawn to mow.
This is going in my sig. :)
