WoW he;p
« on: September 10, 2009, 03:10:30 PM »
SO I finally got everything set up for WoW and when I try to get on battle.net it tell me some bull shit about me having either corrupt files, missing patches, or server downtime.  Well I checked if my computer had any virus.  I have none. I have the newest patch...so could it be the servers or what could it be?

Corrupt files? Did you install from online or from discs? Also did you install all expansions? BC and Lich King?

I'm not sure if the BC discs install the main game? I remember when I reinstalled I used a demo disc from 03 or 04? It was a trial DVD, and it installed the client which downloaded the mass amounts of updates (takes ALL DAY KTHX) because of the early version of the trial dvd. then I did e-activation for BC which 'unlocked' that portion of my gameplay, and for Wrath I actually used install discs which knocked me back to a few HUEG patches earlier, and had to repatch to 3.2.0

I think in this case you may want to uninstall, download the universal client off their website, install that, then BC and wrath.
I wish that cake was a lie. :(

I guess he never figured out what Willis was saying :/

Yeah, if anyone asks about installing WoW on their computer, I will always direct them to This file. Which downloads and installs WoW, TBC, or WOTLK. No need for DVDs, no fucking around with trial crap. Although I do believe that you need to patch up from the release version for WOTLK. Either that, or one of the older major releases.

But this page makes updating fairly painless. Still takes some time, but it definitely makes things go faster than waiting for slow-ass torrents (not always slow, but they can be).

Thanks for the help guys...because WOTLK is just an update I had to update my account to it so I am just installing that and the other games are following suit.  I un-installed now re-installing and lets see what will happen.

this may sound like me being an ass, but have you tried the WoW technical forums?

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=11110&sid=1

you kind of need an active account to post, but you should be able to get help there.  ive used it for random WoW technical problems with success.

Yeah, if I'm ever having trouble with a specific piece of software, I usually try to see if it has it's own forum before asking anywhere else, but sometimes the official forums are useless anyway.

Well I knew alot of the S.net residents play WoW and would rather ask here first because some one at some time is usually lurking or posting.

Yeah, I do use s.net as my tech support a lot, as well.

But yeah, in the case of WoW, their forums are quite useful, since there are so many players. If a problem arises with one person, it's likely to have hit a bunch of other people too.

Blizzard's player base is far larger and more varied than Valve's.

Give them a little time to respond.  Blizzard doesn't just copy and paste form responses in the tech support threads like a lot of other companies.

Yeah, that's one thing I've got to say about blizzard. Sometimes they might not respond quite as quickly as someone running everything through automated systems, but they do a good job most of the time. Plus, you get to actually talk to a real person, rather than some automatic system.
