Nero and burning DVD's

For some reason, when I try to burn a DVD using Nero, the original file shows around 650-700MB in size, then when I add it to Nero it shows over 800MB which doesn't fit on the DVD disc. Also, when I tried to burn it anyway, it did the encoding part, then went and said I required a CD-R disc to burn the movie, and wouldn't let me burn it to a DVD-R disc. I've tried 2 different types of video files, an AVI and a DIVX and they're both doing the same thing. Anything you guys can do to help so I can burn these movies?

Check what "Blank Media" settings Nero is on to burn at. If it is set to CD-R, it will give itself a limit of 700MB, if it is set to DVD, then the limit is 4.7GB.

That said, if you add a file thats bigger than 700MB and it's on CD mode, it'll show up as too big for the disc.

Yeah, that happened to me once, too.  The interface for the disc selection is kind of weird, and it doesn't seem to attempt to automatically detect the media.

Same thing happened to me, lol. Seriously, if it happens this often they definitely need to fix that :/
