YouTubers are generally stupid.

For laughs, try uploading a video of someone playing ITG.  They're so damn clueless that even if you play something like fucking Salieri Strikes Back Oni they'd bitch you out for using the bar despite the fact that they can't do Butterfly on beginner.

I play no-bar on ITG generally, and I think that anyone who complains about the bar should try to play a song of that level themselves, with OR without the bar.

I have only played DDR on a real machine a couple times, but I already know the difference the bar makes. However, it doesn't automatically guarantee that you win.
