I checked out STS9 after hearing them at a sandwich place I eat at. I really like their stuff.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Mishka - Above the Bones

Why isn't this more popular.

http://www.mishka.com
I actually went to Zia records and BOUGHT this with MONEY. I really did.

Holy crap, that is some awesome stuff. Nice chillin music.

EDIT: Now I'm listening to a whole bunch of Reggae. I highly suggest the Sky.fm Roots Reggae channel.

Progressive Nation 2009 is on its way to many North American venues...

Dream Theater
Pain of Salvation
Zappa plays Zappa
and Beardfish.

I'm going, no matter what, no matter where. It will be spectacular.

I just started listening to Beardfish a few minutes ago and it's actually really cool.

Holy shit that sounds awesome. I how they come somewhere near me (within a couple hours drive).

EDIT: Why the hell did I wait so long to finally check out Opeth?

EDIT@: Ditto to UFO. For some reason, Last.fm gave me a UFO song when I had specified artists relating to Children of Bodom. I'm glad it did, though. UFO has some pretty awesome stuff, like This Kids.

What have you listened to so far? Opeth has changed a lot over the years.

I really don't know, just some random stuff I saw on YouTube. I wish I could listen in higher quality. To follow what I do with most bands I like, I'll probably buy an Opeth T-shirt.

Also, I'm getting some pretty cool stuff by putting "technical death metal" as the channel's tag. It's funny, because before I started listening to CoB, I couldn't stand the death metal grunt.

Quo Vadis is a really good Technical Death Metal band from Canada. I recommend you check them out. My favorite song is On the Shores of Ithaka. They've gone through a lot of lineup changes though  :-\.

Woo, Quo Vadis is quite good. They're from Quebec.

But yeah, if you hear older Opeth, they are much more traditional death metal. Their first 2 albums had some sections with the 2 quitar harmony, and stuff. But as they started making more stuff and experimenting, they began to really change. However, their recent album Watershed is a return to their old sound, mixing in the sort of jazz influenced stuff from the recent albums with a more traditional approach to the heavy parts.

I have been following Opeth a fair bit.

Also, I forgot to mention that I got to see an Ill Scarlett concert a couple days ago (Tuesday) at my college. They played at the campus bar. That was an awesome show.

I'm liking Arsis. I've heard a few of their songs on radio, but I've only downloaded We Are The Nightmare because it was available on Last.fm.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Just today heard about Anamanaguchi today, which is apparently a band that mixes 8 bit music with drums and guitar. Fun stuff, also I'm still struggling to add music to my collection.

Also this Arsis sounds right up my alley, I'll check them out.

Check out 8bitpeoples.com, they have Anamanaguchi, among MANY others downloadable for free. Anamanaguchi's album is 8BP065 in their discography.

One of my friends showed me Lunar: http://www.lunarmusic.net/wallofsound

Pretty damn awesome ambient music. The website has it streaming at surprisingly high quality, at least by my standards.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the stream.

I'm downloading both albums now. Sure, it's only 128 kb/s mp3, but something is better than nothing.
