I have a Plaid album on my computer. It's pretty cool, but not something I'd call legendary, and it's NOT like Aphex Twin. It may just be that particular album (Spokes).

P.S. YAY for people who like Dan Deacon. I first heard it the other day in this really awesome used clothes store. It was on the iPod of the current employee's and was playing in the store, so I asked :D

P.S.2. If anyone finds a good torrent-ish-type link of some of his stuff, please PM it to me, so that I may never visit it...............

Anyone heard of Amon Tobin? Probably. They're pretty good.

I had an Amon Tobin album on my comp before it got wiped, and it was pretty good. Certainly different than most stuff I've heard before, but really good nonetheless.

Oh, and anyone who likes IDM influenced music should check out The Postal Service, and Dntel.

I'll have to check Plaid out.
This is going in my sig. :)

I meant legendary, like Aphex Twin in legendary in the IDM community. They're totally different, I agree, and I greatly prefer Plaid.

And yeah, I don't really like Spokes, Double Figure is probably my favorite Plaid album.

I came across one on isohunt a while back, but torrenting and college aren't good combinations.

Ah okay, I thought you were comparing them to each other XD I definitely prefer Aphex Twin, not only because of the style, but the memories it brings back. I started listening to it when I got to high school and started making weird friends. Also, Richard James is such an interesting person, and that makes me like the music more, in a way.

I shall have to check out Double Figure, then.

Same here. It's like, his music has a story behind it, which makes it compelling to listen to. I love Aphex Twin.

That's why I love Kirilian Selections so much, the whole CD seems to tell a story, and individual songs also seem to have some sort of story around them. Though I will admit that Aphex Twin's work also has a lot of story to it. Even the videos add to the stories.

Haha our DC network is the most awesome thing ever. 10mb/s transfer speeds? :3

Too bad I can't really link you them : (

Yeah :/ I remember using DC before DC++ existed... It was an experiment when I was tired of the dieing kazaa network. Unfortunately, kazaa was one of the best networks ever when it was in it's prime. It had practically everything you could ever want. It was sometimes harder to find some things, but still, as far as networks go, it was one of the best. Torrents are awesome, and Soulseek and DC are pretty good, but they don't quite have the ease of use of "Search -> Download -> Wait -> play" the way kazaa did. You have to find the right people to connect to, and such, and torrents can be a pain to track down, and there are too many torrents with no seeds.

This just in- Threshold is pretty awesome, I'm really surprised I haven't heard of them sooner. They're one of the better prog bands I've heard.

Kind of a request, but I was wondering if I could get a recommendation for a good Children of Bodom album (was going to get Hate Crew Deathroll, anything else that's good?) or Opeth (preferably with a good mix of heavier songs, like black water park, and songs like harvest)?

Opeth, you could download Damnation and Deliverance, which are 2 albums, but they're each dedicated to the 2 sounds of Opeth, Damnation is soft, and creepy as hell, and Deliverance is all hard, either that, or get Ghost Reveries or Black Water park. They both have a mix of hard and soft.

For Bodom, I much prefer their first 3, Something Wild, Hatebreeder, and Follow the Reaper. They have a lot more classical influence and less chugging sound. Hate Crew Deathroll isn't quite as bad as Are You Dead Yet? or their newest song they released (and likely their whole album will suck) but IMO their older stuff is better. It's faster, has less low growly stuff and more of the angry harsh stuff. And the solos are WAY better.
