Good PS2 RPGs
« on: November 26, 2007, 03:47:45 AM »
I haven't been buying any ps2 games so now it's time. Tell me a good RPG. And don't just say like, Xenosaga. I'm sick of only hearing about that game. No Final Fantasy either. Everybody already knows those games. Surely there are more PS2 RPGs than these?

I even like to dream when asleep, and to try and recall my dreams: it assures me that I haven't wasted seven or eight hours just lying there.

If you don't mind PS1 games, you could get the Lunar series. Those are some totally kickass games.
This is going in my sig. :)

Wait a few hours and I'll basically list every PS2 game I own.

Digital Devil Saga and Shadow Hearts: Covenant are the best RPGs in the last 5 years though so start there.

And I'm still going to say Xenosaga because I get fucking tired of people complaining about how many cutscenes there were in the first game.

I fell asleep during one of the cutscenes once. XD

It is a great game, you just make sure you're feeling pretty awake when you sit down and play it.

Digital Devil Saga
Own it, never finished it, but yeah, it's really good if you can get it. A little annoying to find, but not completely unreasonable.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Almost finished it, all I need to do is Black Forest and the last 3 wolf bouts, and I'm missing a few of Anastasia's moves. Fantastic game. And you -can- play it without playing the first one, I did, it does a pretty good job of covering the stuff you missed. I still kinda wish I'd played the first one first to get the Kato/Ouka backstory, but oh well.

Don't worry. I've played MGS2 so long cut-scenes aren't new territory for me.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant

I went on a game hunt for that today. After a Best Buy, a Movie Trading Company, and 3 Gamestops, I came up with the original Shadow Hearts.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

SH1's not bad and it'll give you more history with Yuri and Kato but 2 is most definitely 1002830824 times better in every way.

3's hilarious. If you like the idea of eastern european ninja businessmen who trained in Brazil under a drunken talking cat, you'll enjoy the game.

I'll be sure to look out for it.

If you like tactical RPGs, good ones to get are Final Fantasy Tactics, and anything made by NIS (ie Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, Disgaea 2).  Also, don't get FFXII, game plays itself lolz.

That's an absolute lie about FF12. In fact, few things said could be considered as ignorant of how the game actually plays.

Digital Devil Saga was fun, could never beat mega nada on 2, so if you're looking for a "hard" RPG, that's good.

Fixed.

{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}

It's alright, boss fights are fun. I got pretty far in it then I just got bored. Plus it forces you to GRINDAN.

can anyone explain to me how Kingdom Hearts is supposed to be fun? Because it seems more like the most jumbled, scatterbrained, poorly organized game I've ever seen. Maybe one of the worst games I've ever played. Why is it popular?
