I had the most insane, surreal nightmare last night. There was a mini-apocalypse, and I took some kind of drug or something, and I was with a friend of mine at another friend of mine's house, trying to collect supplies and stuff, and somehow, I became trapped inside a giant bowl of tomato and cheddar soup. Like, I became part soup or something, and my soup mixed with the bowl's soup, and our soups were woven together and I couldn't get out. Somehow I split into 3, it was me, a female me, and another male me, and they were both evil. They kept pushing me around, and pushing soup and cheese on me, and laughing at me while I was freaking out.

This is probably the coolest description of a dream I have ever read.

Now I get a start up screen and I can't do anything from there. I've put every set up disc and hit F1 and escape (what it says on screen) and nothing happens. At least I think I have everything hooked up right.

They've been transitioning us to mornings, so I've been getting up earlier.  Scary thought, I know.

I saw Deathproof last night. Oh god that movie was awesome, holy crap.

It says my Monitors manufacturer at the top, then the CPU I have, the it says Master and it shows my DVD drive, then slave and it says nothing, then it shows my main S ATA  with a list of other empty slots, then it says floppy failed (I don't have one).  Then it says hit F1 to continue, or hit escape to go into setup, which I haven't gotten it to do either.

Odds are the floppy is set as present in the BIOS.

As for your keyboard not working, erm...what kind of keyboard is it?  If it's USB it *should* work.  If it's Bluetooth, you'll need to hunt down a USB or PS/2 keyboard.  If it's wired, try it on another system to make sure that it works.

Apparently I had the keyboard in the mouse socket, and the mouse in the keyboard socket.....fuck.

Oh, don't worry, we've all been there. =(  Whichever engineer decided to make both PS/2 ports the same shape and pin-out should have their nuts ripped off.

Just as a general rule in the future, if you don't have any sort of color-coding (or, for that matter, a line of sight) the port closest to the board is always (at least it was on every single system I've ever used with PS/2 ports) the keyboard port.

and now the version of windows XP isn't being read, which means the disc drive isn't hooked up completely (I have the HDD wires going from it to the motherboard, and the power wires going into the drive, so I think that it's fine) or that my disc is screwed up. 

Apparently I bought an upgrade for XP instead of the actual OS, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

Yep, my friend did that too. It's hard to find a real copy of XP, instead of an upgrade. XP is still rather expensive too :/
