D&D's not quite the same when it's not in person. As well, everyone will need to have a copy of the pertinent books, though thankfully the core rulebooks are available on the 3.5SRD. (System Resource Document) It's also kinda time-intensive, though I'd be game for it. Not running though. I'm a terribly lazy DM.

Lol, yeah, I'd be a lazy DM, and if we're going, I'll need time to download the right books :P (I'm not like my friend matt, who probably wouldn't even need the books.)
This is going in my sig. :)

BTW, what's Z-lining?

A server or network IP ban.

I'll DM, if you guys want. I could probably borrow my friends rulebooks.

If you guys are really interested in it, I could probably get the friend I play with in real life to join in too, toss me a PM if you're interested in playing, if I can get more than two or three people I'll try to work out a campaign.

Got my laptop happily running LUNICKZ again.  Rather than using KDE I've chosen to use...IceWM.  KDE4 is but a month away, so I figure I'll wait for that and not muddy up this install by slapping KDE3 on it.

I might wind up switching to Window Maker, though.  I used to use that a lot when I first started using Linux.

Actually, on second thought, I probably shouldn't DM. I was looking through the books, there's way more to it than I expected. It'd take me way too long to figure everything out.

I've always missed every opportunity to play D&D with my friends, but at least 3 of them have DM experience.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Yeah, DMing is a really intensive thing. My friend who DMs pretty much knows D&D 3rd edition core rules off the top of his head. He found a flaw in the system that in effect allowed a pet of yours to confer nearly every power in the game on you. He could make himself almost as powerful as the gods are.

I have a friend who's like that in Magic. He uses a blue deck, which, according to ED, "is the basis of annoying "Control" decks which are inevitably found in the hands of some nerd who will invoke some rule of the game you didn't know existed in order to counter your every action."

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

I've always wanted to try D&D, I had a friend last year who played it like every weekend. He was planning on going to college this year, but didn't, and now all he does is D&D, haha.

Also, ten more minutes until the TV is free for me to get the last two stars in Galaxy! woo~

Honestly, I've always enjoyed RIFTS much more than anything D&D has. Character types and situations are just way more varied.

That said, I haven't played in nearly 8 years.

Anyway, Mass Effect is a pretty cool game. It's not ZOMG amazing or anything but it's fun.

It seems we have a good number of people that wouldn't mind playing D&D, and that's good.  Somebody does need to find a DM though, and we haven't discussed an actual IRC channel name.  Again, if I registered it, it would be on irc.esper.net.  Suggestions for the name?

I was talking my friend, and there's programs that could actually just do all of this for us, one of them being openrpg. It lets us have a virtual tabletop and stuff, along with having all of the irc functionality. That'd make it much simpler for the DM.
