Meh, I generally write all of my pad stuff out on keyboard long before I actually take it to an arcade or whatever. It usually comes out okay.
If you want a good frame of reference, download Mungyodance 2 and compare it with some of the files in there. Find the closest difficulty that matches the step chart that you made. Since boss songs aren't allowed in the contest, make sure you don't make anything comparable to the songs in red.
