I remember reading Saikano. I'm pretty sure there's an anime of it, and I'm betting it's equally if not more depressing than the manga.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

hay

if you have a non japanese name, and you're trying to write it in japanese, do you use katakana or hiragana

seems like it would make more sense if it were katakana, because katakana is used for a lot of cognates

It's katakana. Hiragana is just for Japanese words IIRC.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Yes, katakana is used only for loan words and such. Hiragana is used when they need to write particles and conjugations and all the grammatical aspects of japanese, since they don't use kanji for that stuff.

Blair would be written as ブレイア (bu-re-i-a), I believe. Either that, or ブレヤ (bu-re-ya), but I really doubt they'd use that. Of course, you can mix in the odd word in english letters when necessary in japanese. It's pretty common to see the odd phrase or word in english if it's a proper noun, or has some significance that would be lost in translation (some things just don't translate well.)
This is going in my sig. :)

Oh, okay neko.  I was drawing this thing today (I'll scan it in when I finish maybe) and a weeaboo friend of mine suggested I weeaboo it up and put the character's name in kana on the side.  He then persisted that it should be hiragana.  Lolz.  (katakana is easier to draw anyway D:<)

My roommate watched that a month or two back, and was literally traumatized for about a week. I lol'd so hard.

Just finish Elfen Lied. I must say that was a  :) :'( ending, I really liked. The only thing I didn't like was how many louse ties it left, never found the queen, never found the true motivation of that company owner, never found out if that teacher got a shower, never found out if Lucy/Nyu came back (kind of obvious, but I'm dense and need closure).

ALSO REQUEST that this gets moved over to media, I have no idea what I was thinking putting this in random.

That's why the anime ending is epic fail compared to the second half of the manga. :>

I don't find any reason to move it. It's a discussion thread, not "hey, look at this video". Media is technically more for posting actual media, not talking about it.

Going to have to download that then.

Point, but I know it's going to get pushed down here and I'm bored enough t watch everything in here.
