My Wii is dying. Halp :(

So lately I've been having this sick, twisted problem with my Wii: when I'm playing a game, the disc-reading device inside the Wii has been making an awfully loud whirring noise. It's been really annoying me, so finally I put a towel over my Wii to muffle it. I could still hear it though, so today I wrapped my Wii in a towel and put two more on top of it, to completely muffle it. All was well and good, and I couldn't hear the evil whirring, but while I was playing No More Heroes the Wii suddenly died. I went to check on it and it had completely shut off, it wasn't running WiiConnect24 or whatever. It had totally overheated, and it was REALLY hot to the touch. I'm wondering now if my Wii is totally fried, and if I can send it in to the big N to get them to fix it (even if it might have been my fault :x)

Definitely sounds like an overheat to me. You could probably send it to Nintendo if you bought a warranty. Not sure how good Nintendo is on the whole replacement of hardware tho.

Send it in to Nintendo. They do a full replacement and move all of your relevant information over to the new one from what I've seen. Your VC purchases and whatnot will be deleted but you should be able to just download them for free again.

Not to come off as an ass, but what exactly were you thinking? Did you leave the fans uncovered. Also I'd be sure to tell them you where playing for a while if they ask anything.

Nothing at all, no, and I will.

Send it in to Nintendo. They do a full replacement and move all of your relevant information over to the new one from what I've seen. Your VC purchases and whatnot will be deleted but you should be able to just download them for free again.

Sounds good, will do that. I suppose they're gonna send me some sort of mailer that I have to use to send it back in to them. I'll check their website.

K, I filled out the repair form, and my Wii's still under warranty so it should all be good. Also, don't tell anyone, but I ordered 4 Wii Condoms when I only have 2 Wiimotes! Shh. I'm gonna play with the extra Condoms.
