After picking up Super Paper Mario again and getting past a roadblock that I was stuck at a few months ago, I realized that the game is actually a lot of fun.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Wait, you just realized that?

After the first 10 minutes or so of it, I was already thinking "fuck, this game is fun".
This is going in my sig. :)

I got stuck and tried what I thought was everything, then I thought, "Fuck this game, I'm going to play Guitar Hero."

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

...The Wii one, or the game cube one?

Also I'm breezing threw metroid prime, I just did the part were you get jumped by jet pack troops in one try, and that took me like 5 the first time I played it. Still an awesome game, they should have made 3 similar.

3 was better to me in pretty much every way. They didn't shoehorn in some blatant fetch quest and it controlled so much better.

Also, Super Paper Mario is only on Wii. The N64 game is Paper Mario 1, GC is Paper Mario 2. They're all great games.

1 just seemed to have a good balance of backtracking and exploring IMO. 3 was pretty linear for a metroid game, and 2 had so much back tracking it made me want to die. I loved 3s controls tho, if they ever remake 1 and 2 with those controls I'd be so damn happy.

Garry's Mod, now that I have a computer that can run it.

EDIT: Now I'm going through HL2. I'm enjoying it so far. I really prefer mouse control to the controllers in console FPS's

Not HL, I believe I was referring to the metroid primes (though I forget).

Oh...

Metroid prime... WHAT THE FUCK? MP is awesome, really a rather unique FPS, I can't even think of a similar game.

Imo they wrecked the Metroid games with Prime, IMO. Platformer =/= FPS. Platformer > FPS 95% of the time, IMO.

The only complaints that I have with Metroid Prime are the controls (haven't played MP3 yet...still working on 2).  Aside from that, they've created one of the best overall environments in any FPS I've seen.  The GameCube/Wii are not exactly the most powerful systems, but the sheer attention to detail in those games makes up for the lack of graphical horsepower.  The fact that just about all of the gameplay elements from the platformers (and then some) made it into the FPS both surprised and satisfied me.  Honestly, if the controls were a bit more fluid (again, haven't played MP3 yet) those games would definitely be high up on my "bestest gaemz evar" list.

Please tell me you're not insinuating that it "wrecked" the series just because it's an FPS and not a platformer, because that's the only thing I seem to be able to pick up from your last post.  I can accept when people don't like games for whatever reason (I know my exceedingly negative opinion on TF2 isn't widely-shared, after all) but I can't accept when people shun games simply because they might be different.

Well, I've tried it before, and could never get into it. When I think Metroid, I don't think FPS. I think platformer, period. I'll admit that the level design really surprised and impressed me, but the controls being what they were, and the fact that I'm generally terrible at first person oriented games except for the general multiplayer halo type stuff means that I couldn't enjoy the Metroid Prime games.

The only reason they moved to first person is because nobody makes proper platformers any more. I'd absolutely love to see more proper 2d platformers come out. I mean, there's enough graphical power there that they can make some very nice graphics and effects. Not to mentioon since these console sare quite a bit more powerful than the SNES/Genesis they should be able to add some stuff not typically found in an oldschool platformer, due to technical limitations/size limitations and such.

With the power of today's systems, if they really wanted to, someone could come out with something that completely redefines 2D platformers.
This is going in my sig. :)

You realize they still make/made 2D metroid games for the GBA right? At least they're trying something new, and the prime games are rather fun despite the meh controls of the first 2.
