Anyone have a link to a lightweight Linux LiveCD that I can easily use to get root access? I'm trying to uninstall Ubuntu, and I read the easiest way is to delete everything on the partition save for the boot folder and edit GRUB using the Ubuntu LiveCD. That's all fine and dandy, but the only way for me to delete everything is through Windows, and I can't do that easily because of permissions. I also couldn't do that using the LiveCD because I needed root access.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

I just plugged in my old compy upstairs temporarily to do a few nifty things with it from the comfort of my chair, so I have Windows on one monitor, LUNICKZ on the other, and I'm blasting REM while I work.  Life is good.

more internal ram means, you can actually browse the internet without much hastle

Have you ever used the PSP's web browser?  Doing just about anything on that is a hassle. :P

In all honesty, it's not too terrible, but...meh.  If I was reliant on that I'd probably scream.

Damn Small Linux: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

DSL is a nice LiveCD that weighs in at a mere 50MB.  Quite nice to have around.

i used it on both the fat and slim psp.

but, no its not a practical way to get online.  but as a person without a laptop, say i am on the shitter, or at a friends house and i need to check something online, it can be handy.

considering the fat psp is rather laggy online, and the slim psp seems to be substantionally faster.  if you browse online every once in a while for reasons i posted, or any other practical reasons, i don't see a problem.

The only thing I really use the PSP's online for is actually internet radio. I don't have a computer of my own so if I'm just working on something in my room (cleaning, switching things around, leveling in some game, doing a puzzle, I don't know), I just turn on some anime music channel or metal or something and just put on my headphones.

But yes, overall, the PSP Slim is a vast improvement over the fat. Especially once hacked and you overclock older games. Man does it help load times on some stuff.

posting in this thread "ITS MA MAFUCKIN BURT'DAY TAHDAE" is a good way to let people know.

anyway, it looks like you had a good one, so...that leaves what i can say to be limited.

happy birthday anyway, because y'know im obligated to say it and stuff.

Holy SHIT.

Ok, 4 hours, 2 LiveCDs, several partition resizes, and a few reboots later, I finally got my computer working properly after resizing the Windows partition. Here's what happened: I deleted everything on the Ubuntu partition and redid the menu.lst in the grub folder, which worked out fine. However, there was no partitioner on the LiveCD I used. I had to burn another CD, this time remembering to put gparted in.

I booted up again, went into gparted, deleted the swap partition, and resized everything accordingly. But when I tried to reboot, I got grub error 22, which I'd earlier read meant that the partition wasn't found. I didn't realize why until I booted back up with a LiveCD: There are 2 hard drives in this computer. Recovery is hda1, main is hda2, I don't remember what was hda3, and hda4 was extended, which is made up of hda5 (swap) and hda6 (Ubuntu). When I deleted the swap partition, the Ubuntu (now just grub) partition was renamed to hda5. Grub didn't know this, it just assumed that I had gotten rid of an important part of it. So I rebooted, this time with the LiveCD that had gparted on it (I'd used the other one).

I tried simply renaming the partition, but that didn't seem to work. Eventually I resized the main partition (again), copied the grub partition (to hda6), formatted the first one (hda5) to swap, and shrunk everything down as small as possible to make room for the main partition. Now, although my computer boots properly, I have a useless 7MB swap partition.

Lesson learned: When installing anything for dual-boot on a computer that doesn't have a multi-OS bootloader, do the swap space last.

Well I have no clue what you just said, but it sounds confusing. Also my PC is pretty much set up now, and my internet signal is bouncing from 3 to 2 bars. Now all I need is a reliable and safe way to download PERFECTLY LEGITIMATE software.

Lol, lots of work. Personally, I'd have tossed grub out the window if I was getting rid of linux.
This is going in my sig. :)

I'm not sure how to safely do that, so I just let it stay. It doesn't really get in the way, it just shows up for a second during boot to pick the only OS.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
