How do I make 1440x900 a selectable resolution in XP?
« on: April 15, 2008, 07:34:03 PM »
My mom got a new monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster 932bw. Its native resolution is 1440x900. I've been looking around, but I haven't been able to get it working right. I know my video card can support 1440x900 because I got that resolution working perfectly in Ubuntu.

So, yeah. Help.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

If your video card has a special driver suite program or whatever, wouldn't it have something like that as a resolution option?  If not, I'd think there'd be some special drivers you can download to trix windows into displaying your resolution.

I also run at 1440x900, but I never had to do anything to get it working.

I did a quick google and all I could come up with is trying the CD that might have come with the monitor.
This is going in my sig. :)

No CD came with the monitor.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}

Hey, I have a SyncMaster (a 2693HM)... 8)  Those are some damn fine displays, eh?

What kind of video card do you have?  If you have an nVidia card, there's a setting in the nVidia control panel that lets you add in custom resolution settings (I had to do that to get 1280x800 and 1650x1050).  If you have an ATI card...ah, they probably have something like that but I don't know how to get to it. :x

EDIT: Fuck, I was thinking of my laptop. This computer has a GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU. I can't find its panel.

That's an nVidia chip, but I don't know if its driver version is new enough...it might not have the option to do that.

There are other programs that'll do that, such as PowerStrip.  I've never tried it for that task but it should do the trick.
