I need a new video card

So I have gotten myself a bunch of new computer shit, including a new mobo, 2 gigglebytes of RAM, and a power supply. Now, all I need is a new video card. The problem is, I don't know much about such things, and was hoping to get some suggestions. I have a limited budget, and would prefer something at, or below $120. I'm not a gamer, and I don't plan on rendering super complex 3D graphics, so hopefully that helps.

I had no idea the 8600GT's were that cheap, actually.  They're still damn good cards, even by today's standards.

I've never had any problems with XFX.  I have an XFX-branded card in my system now, actually.

rofl, that card blows away my 7800 GS. Really goes to show ya how far technology has advanced within the last year, even. Bought mine for $230 and it's only 500 mhz, 256 MB. lol AGP 8x. Oh well. Still, I have no problems with any gaming I do and my framerates for stepmania never drop below 200 fps.

Great choice, though. sq3r. For $65, you really can't go bad at all with that card. Seriously.

I remember being so excited about the performance of AGP back in 1996-1997.  Like you said, it's funny how things change.

I hate my crappy card. I've got a PCIe Radeon x550. Stepmania hovers around 140 FPS or so. Sure, I can RUN most games (Crysis, Oblivion, etc.) but not all that well. And we paid $90 for the thing (I'm thinking of getting a new video card if I can manage to save enough working at my job, if I don't get fired).

I remember a few years back when I first put this computer together, I paid something like $100 for 1 gig of RAM, and I just got 2 gigs for about $45...
