I would only plug in what was needed, and seeing if that worked. Also, a PC speaker might help tremendously. I'm sure you could just buy one at best buy and return it to the store when you were done...

Yeah I tried plugging in only the necessary items. The monitor still won't be recognized. I even tried a different monitor and still nothing. What exactly would a PC speaker do for me?

It would give you beep codes so you could better tell what the problem is.
