I tried some DDR today for the first time in over a year. I've been doing some parkour lately so I figured my stamina would be pretty good. I didn't expect my PA to be so much better than last time, though. It's on a DDR Extreme machine.

MAX 300 - A, 3 misses or so
MAXX UNLIMITED - A, a few goods and misses
Sakura - FC/AA, 43 greats
Drop Out - FC/AA, 38 greats
Saint Goes Marching (remix) - 9 greats, 2nd SDG I've ever gotten in DDR ever (first was Sync heavy)
PSMO - passed for the first time ever with a B

I also passed Paranoia Survivor in ES. Overall I'm a shitload better than I was when I stopped playing over a year ago.

EDIT: Better score on SGM:

Well, thanks to Guitar Hero: Smash Hits having different charts for everything, I've now passed Through the Fire and Flames Expert with 89%. The entire beginning is done in tappable notes. No strumming.

I found out that I can still AA MAX 300 and SDG stuff.  w00t.

Also played some DDR-X with Mr. OmegaOmni last week.  The pads are absolute shit.  I mean, holy shit is that thing poorly designed.  If I were Konami I'd be suing the fuck out of the jokers who designed that.

Oh, I also passed Panic Attack on Rock Band 2 expert guitar.  Funny, the time I played before that (a couple of months ago at least) I wasn't able to pass it worth a damn (always failed on the solo), but that time I freaking nailed it.

Well, thanks to Guitar Hero: Smash Hits having different charts for everything

Are the charts as awful as some of the ones in GH3 or did Neversoft actually learn a thing or two about rhythm games?

If the song was in GH3, the charts are even worse. If the song was in GH2 or 80s, the charts are mostly the same. If the song was in GH1, the charts are now really boring.

Sadly, I found most of the original GH1 charts to be boring as hell anyway. There were a couple that were fun though.
This is going in my sig. :)

I have GameFly now so I guess I could always rent it if I get morbidly curious, but...dang.  I think I'll be sticking with Rock Band.

This was too perfect. I played PSMO, Max 300, and Maxx Unlimited in one round. This was the combined result:

Also, I tried GH Arcade. Awful. Just awful. It doesn't go well with most other music games because the songs aren't very close to each other in length. The machine I played on was offsync by like .1 second, and the strum bar was finicky even though the machine was brand new. There's no whammy bar, either, and the guitar controllers weighed as much as a real guitar. Also, $1.00, one song. Or $2.00, one long song (like KoC).

TThere's no whammy bar, either, and the guitar controllers weighed as much as a real guitar.

They weigh 14 pounds, which is the same weight as a Guitar Freaks Arcade controller (both real AC and CS version). Also, there's no whammy bar because it would be the first thing broken off by small children.

Ok, you have me there, but there's still plenty wrong with the game.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}

The entire rest of the game is an unplayable hellspawn.

Lol, nice way of putting it. Though I'm a little disappointed, I can't say I didn't see it coming.

I really wish that they would use a bit of common sense when they decide to come out with an arcade version of a console game.... It'd be smarter to just set up something like those setups you see in game stores and wallmarts where they set up a console and make it unstealable. Sure, the controllers get beaten up, and need to be replaced if it were to be used as an arcade machine, but in all honesty, it'd likely be cheaper to do that than to pay for a junky arcade machine with parts that don't work from the beginning.
