Well, I'm living proof that it IS possible to find someone who you can have a long relationship with (We've been going out for 5 years), but I know someone online who is also living proof that even after 8 years things can go south. Relationships are like Russian Roulette, only the gun has an unknown number of chambers. Your bound to find a winner (or nearly bound anyway :/) but god knows how many failure you'll have to endure before you do.

so I got together with a friend of a friend of mine at a Denny's for valentine's day (only place that was available that evening), though we've been going out for a week beforehand, yet this was the first time seeing her in person.  So far after meeting her she's fuckin perfect.
