segmented network?
« on: August 12, 2008, 11:44:48 PM »
Since I have two linksys wireless routers - one in the closet in a box, the other new one WRT150N in the front of the house.

Would it be effective at all to hook up the older router here in my room to either a) boost connectivity b) reduce network traffic/latency for games/torrents c) anything else?

halp.

with most routers, you can't leapfrog a wireless signal from one to another.

You can, however, connect one to the other via LAN cable and set its BSSID and SSID to match the host's. This should allow you to go from one end of the house/router to another without any hiccups.

We pressed on. Shortly afterwards, we arrived in a poisonous, post-apocalyptic hell - a sprawling, toxic dumping ground stretching for a mile or two. This is the final resting place for your old TV, computer or mobile phone.

If you can install DD-WRT on it you can.  I converted a WRT54G into a glorified wireless card by doing that. :P
