Wow, Internet Explorer 9 kills every browser except for Opera in the Sputnik JavaScript Compliance test, scoring 86/5246. For comparison's sake, Opera scores 80, Chrome 7 scores 131, and Firefox 4 scores...262 (lower is better, obviously).
If this keeps up, Firefox is going to have the least compliant JavaScript engine. I wish I could say that I was surprised at this point, but all Firefox 4 has been to me thus far is a complete and utter disappointment.
It's really starting to sound like I have it out for Mozilla, but they're really sucking right now. They managed to pimp the hell out of their browser and actually make it popular, then they just fucking stopped progressing altogether. I use Firefox for one thing -- to watch Internet TV. Why Firefox? Because its AdBlock extension works the best. I used to use IE until I found that 75% of the time I was completely unable to watch South Park because the ad system that they use was garbage (I have no problem watching ads on Internet TV, honestly, but if your ads don't fucking work and prevent me from watching the show, I'm going to skip them). Using Firefox actually felt like a downgrade. Not only did it take several times longer to start up (10-15 seconds on a Core i7? Opera starts up faster on a Pentium II and Safari/Chrome -- with their full rendering engines, no less -- start up faster on ARM-powered mobile devices) but it's falling behind on the thing that it so dearly touted all of these years -- compliance. It's hard not to be annoyed by what they're doing.
If they get their act together, perhaps I'll switch back and stop talking shit, but in the meantime they're not getting any mercy from me.
