A1: Yes and it is rather nice haven't tried it out for gamming yet.

A2:Basic=pure suckage but I became so much stronger on so many levels.

I think I've been using the wrong resolution for years. I switched it to 1280 x 960 and everything looks much smaller, but nothing is falling off of the screen and it definitely looks better.

Also my comp seems to be running better, so hopefully my card gets repaired and everything is resolved finally.

If you have steam add me Crunkman5000.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what specifically was so bad about basic? Was it just a constant barrage of hard work or what?

Lack of sleep, being mentally broken down, and learning shit on a fast pace level...oh yeah I forgot to mention being sick all the time.  I had a cold for well over 1 month.

I have something lined up that I hope is going to work.  Kind of a higher level tech role.  I'm going to be able to work normal hours (i.e. 9 to 5 as opposed to 9 until...well, whenever), have actual vacation time (haven't had a full day off in a year and a half), get paid a decent amount, and get relatively inexpensive medical coverage.

If that falls through, I'll probably still be better off doing fast food or grocery store work.  I quite literally don't have a life right now, and it's not fair to my friends or myself.  My average weekend right now is spent answering work-related calls and a typical weekday involves 10+ hour work days, every day (on Thursday, I didn't get home until 1:30AM, and after that I wound up having to work remotely).  It's kind of ridiculous.

I just wrote perhaps one of the most inefficient OpenGL (technically OpenTK, but it provides roughly 1:1 access to OpenGL in .NET, so yay) program in existence.  It displays bitmaps in the most braindead way imaginable -- by rendering every single pixel in the bitmap as a quad.  Two polygons per pixel.

Not only does it use an obscene amount of memory (let's just say, I cached the bitmap in memory as a System.Drawing.Color array) but the CPU actually gets gridlocked sending that much data out.  I think I get about 3 FPS on a 1280x960 image.  No culling to speak of, so if you zoom threw it it'll still attempt to draw everything.  Oh, I also didn't bother building display lists or anything that could make drawing more efficient.  Take that!

I was kind of disappointed by the results.  I figured that modern CPUs would be able to handle a bit more brute forcing than that.  I suppose now I'll just have to make it a bit more efficient to see if I can make make the GPU try a little.

Edit: Wow.  I threw the entire mess of polys into a display list and now it can do 1920x1200 images at 80-90 FPS on my machine.  I suppose the fact that it made that much of a difference isn't too surprising, but what amazed me was how easy it was to use display lists.  Changing them, however, is kind of impossible.  Perhaps the next step is vertex buffer objects.

This is fun!

Good luck man, you definitely deserve it.
