Haven't done a shift yet; I'll be doing that this coming week.  They're gonna start me out just making/serving tea and stuff, but very shortly, they're gonna move me onto cooking.  Which is why they hired me in the first place.  :D  They needed someone that can actually cook.

Downgraded my work phone to iPhone OS 3.1.3.  YESSSS.  It's actually a usable device again!

Apple should have never allowed 3G users to upgrade to iOS 4.  About the only real feature that we get are folders and a truckload of slowdowns and app crashes due to the different memory layout (which 3GS and 4 owners do not generally get, probably because those devices have more memory).  It literally took upwards of 5 seconds just to go to the home screen.  F'in ridiculous.

But anyway, if any other 3G users were dumb enough to upgrade, this guide on Lifehacker is detailed and easy to follow: http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4-to-ios-313.  Of course, I had numerous issues following it because I used my PowerMac for everything, and nobody builds any software for OS X 10.4 and PowerPC anymore, so naturally I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to build iRecovery, but it was totally worth the pain and suffering.

Hah, I can sync the iPhone using an installation of Windows XP running under VMware.

That's pretty cool.  It keeps me from having to waste the limited disk space on my Mac by having to store music and apps on it (which I've mainly been using to play older games on) and it keeps me from having to install iBloats in my main environment.  I can get used to this whole USB-in-a-VM thing.

4 day weekend due to tropical storm.

Went out and bought a Classic Controller for 15 bucks and then got the 360 madcatz fighting pad for my PC, and I fucking love both. Plus, m7y grandma just gave me a 50 dollar check for my birthday. It's good to be king.

I have $1200 in my account and can't think of anything to spend money on, which means continual savings for the first time....ever. Keep the train going! I want $10k in that account at this time next year (I also want to open a savings account and put at least $1000 in it to start).

HAH, I got permission yesterday to jailbreak my company phone in the interests of seeing how many "brand new" iOS 4 features that I can use on my 3G (which pretty much only supports using app folders on iOS 4 and running exceedingly slowly) running 3.1.3.

This should be interesting.
