The Hellsing OVA "Hellsing Ultimate" is an actual adaptation of the manga, unlike the anime series, which had its own stuff going. It's much truer to the material and is much better.

Finished Planetes. Now I definitely have a new favorite series.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Huh, the Hellsing OVA actually mentions Nazis.

Just watched the first episode of Bakemonogatari. It was really, really weird and now I want to watch more of it. It had one scene where I felt like I was being attacked rather than the character in focus, which is the kind of atmosphere I love.

Though the version I have doesn't have a lot of the rapid text that flashes translated, which bothers me because I feel like I'm missing a lot of the story.

In that case, you might want to find a different sub group's version, and see which one you prefer.

This site compares the fansubs for tons of different shows. The link is to their Bakemonogatari page.

Personally, I think that either gg or Koharubi are the best of the ones shown there. They seem to be the most direct translation, and don't mess things up by adding their own flavor to stuff (which generally indicates that they are better in general, than the other 2).
This is going in my sig. :)

I have gg's and they do a good job of getting the speech right. Plus, theirs is the only complete version in the XDCC index I use. I think I'll just wait until there's a torrent up somewhere.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

http://www.animesuki.com/group.php/485.html

That site is amazingly useful for tracking torrent releases, especially when you aren't sure where the website for the group is (or if they even have one). I'm still a total noob when it comes to XDCC and such, so I prefer torrents.

Okay, I've watched what's been released of the Hellsing OVA, and I must say it was decently better then the Hellsing anime. Really does portray Alucard as more of an anti-hero.

This is why I love fansubs.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Ok, so I'm about halfway through Simoun. It's pretty damn good, and I love the soundtrack. I didn't have much trouble getting around the "everyone is voiced by a woman" aspect, but the "everyone is gay" aspect took some getting used to.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Well, all things considered, it IS a yuri show... But unlike every other one, they at least have an excuse for it in their backstory.

Simoun just keeps getting better. I had some trouble at the beginning, since it introduced nearly all of the main characters and setting at once, but once I got familiar with all of it, it got so much better. I'm guessing it'll be better the second time through.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Finished Simoun. I liked it. I'm not really sure what to make of the ending, though.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}
