So I watched First Squad, and somebody said it's supposed to be turned into a full anime series, but I haven't seen any sources to back that up.  It was an entertaining movie, anyway.

...I can't get these MKV files to load...

A) what program?
B) Is this the first time using MKVs?
C) Have you installed [urlhttp://www.cccp-project.net/]CCCP[/url]?

WMP doesn't play MKVs, though most other video programs will. If you haven't installed the CCCP, do so, and try again, because it has all the resources for playing MKVs, among other file types. If you have, and are using some other program other than WMP, try them in VLC if you haven't already, since VLC comes pre-configured to play many files, including MKVs.
This is going in my sig. :)

I was using DivX, which supposedly said it could read MVK files.

and it still can't with CCCP installed, but I'll have to mess with it.

Use Media Player Classic Homecinema or whatever it is. It's tiny and excellent.

The latest VLC (or at least the one I have right now) can play MKVs a lot better than some of the previous versions.  Really, unless you're using mplayer from the command line, you don't have an excuse not to use VLC =U

I use command-line mplayer when I watch stuff on my Eee, but only because it's less resource-intensive than VLC.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}
main(){return f(0,0,34,84,2423,26628,72864,98)<putchar(32)>f(0,0,40,125,5809,118995,906750,96)==~putchar(10);}

Yeah, I tried that exactly after I posted that post.

Suppose I should just get rid of Divx completely.

Watching Paranoia Agent. I love surreal horror when it's actually scary.

Code: [Select]
f(u,c,k,_,y,e,a,h)
{return u*u*u*u-u*u*u*_+u*u*y-u*e+a?k?f(u+1,c,k-1,_,y,e,a,h):0:putchar(u-c+h)==f(u+1,u,k-1,_,y,e,a,h);}

I had no fucking idea what was going on when I watched that show, I'm assuming it has more to do with the victims states of mind rather then anything more solid.

Also Planetes seem fairly awesome, but the whole helplessly floating through space while debris whizzes past you kind of freaks me out.

Agreed. That program is awesome. I use that for most videos, but for some reason it doesn't like to read alternate audio tracks in the MKVs I've got, so I use Zoom Player, which is a bit more resource intensive and a bit slower to respond (and lags when opening MKVs), but it works, and I can tell it to use japanese with subs, which MPC apparently can't (even though I remember being able to do it in that a while ago).
This is going in my sig. :)

Wow, episode 5 of Planetes was nuts.

Also yeah, so far so good with this show.

Just went to Anime Planet and put together a list of series, movies, and OVAs I've watched to the end. The total came to 54. Granted, it counts individual seasons separately (for example, Black Lagoon is counted twice and Genshiken is counted 3 times), but still, I had no idea I was that much of a weeaboo.

EDIT: Bakemonogatari is pretty awesome. I'm not usually into series with such a surreal atmosphere all the time, but this series somehow hooked me from the start. I'm only on episode 7 right now, because it's really hard to watch more than 1 or 2 episodes at once.

the only good anime i've ever seen is NGE

and maybe elfen lied, that one was pretty quality. except the manga went fucking nowhere after lucy decided to SPOILERS

dbz was real quality too...

but i just wanna say that white people that follow animes religiously really really bugs me. idk what's about it but hearing them say anything japanese when they don't look cultured enough/wear shirts from buckle just realy bugs me.

I really enjoy anime, but I absolutely HATE the image it gets, thanks to all the retards who watch it. And yes, I'm trying to learn Japanese, but part of that is because I like the language itself. I'm also trying to learn Korean and Russian (very very slowly) as well.

You might like Black Lagoon, I fucking loved it but it seems like a love it or hate it type of thing.

Also yeah, I generally try and keep my anime watching habits on the DL due to the negative stigma of the whole thing. At least video games are semi normal, considering I put at least 4 hours a day on them.
