Speaking of Monster Hunter Tri, I just started playing it tonight. I started at about 10:00 with the intent of just getting through the tutorials and just ended up shutting off my Wii about 15 minutes ago. Very fun.
It took some time to get used to the controls. Not because they were extra complex, but because of the amount of precision needed. Luckily, the analog stick on the nunchuk is quite good, so that was hardly an issue.
Now, time for some early complaints (woohoo!).
First of all, I have a feeling that the limitations of the Wii are hampering what the game could be. There might be a lot to see, but you wind up jumping from tiny stage to the next tiny stage, separated by loading screens. I'm glad the first thing I did was rip the disc, because I'd hate to see what the loading times would be like without me having done that (honestly, anything longer than hard drive loading times would have probably started to bug me after a couple of hours). The graphics being Wii-esque doesn't bother me so much, but the game being separated into levels is unfortunate. I was hoping that it would be a bit more of an open world.
The worst sin that I've seen so far is that corpses disappear way too fast. When I'm in area 6 hunting those small carnivores, I generally wind up taking three or four of them on at a time. However, since I'm still using noob weapons, by the time I manage to kill the third one, the first two corpses are already gone. I don't know if you lose the loot from them or if it appears back at the village (the game doesn't tell you either way, and I'm generally out of the village long enough that I can't really tell), but the very idea that I could be missing out on loot because of that annoys me. If I find out otherwise it won't be as big of an issue.
Outside of that, it made me want to turn my Wii on (nmiaow), so a major victory goes to Capcom right there. I still can't help but imagine what the game would be like if it had a large, sprawling world rendered in glorious 720p, though.
