whaaaa
nigga stole my idea
actually i had an idea for a game where you formed a band in an rpg style, and then the rpg battles consisted of you pounding out rhythms on the keyboard. ie lead guitar would be ASDF Space, harmonic guitar or bass guitar would be 456ENTER 0, Drums would be the arrows, and keyboard would be the home row. The first three would have a bunch of potential combo oportunities, and i'd have to design a bunch of strings of notes. it would be pretty cool. then, you'd use your SKILLZ to increment a meter, and that's the damage you would deliver to the enemy team! and there'd be strategy, some enemies would be more resistant to solos, some enemies would be more resistant to guitar duets, and a 7/8 beat would be devastating to other enemies
"solo" is an instrument played by the left hand with drum backup from the right hand
"duet" is an instrument played by the left hand with another instrument played from the right hand (basically the same except you use the numpad to play an instrument)
- guitar would be like ASDF or 456ENTER for the frets and SPACE or 0 to pick the string(s) (like a simplified guitar hero i guess). the main character has to be a lead guitarist so this probably has a good learning curve starting at really easy.
- keyboard would be ASDF(GH)JKL; for notes and SPACE to hold sustain. harder to solo/duet with, but possible. would have bunches of chords and shit but also some cool patterns.
- drums is like DDR and you use the arrow keys. probably harder than the other instruments
every turn, you start by creating or changing a lineup (up to 4 characters participating in a turn but up to 8 in your roster). the attack order is based on lineup, but if two characters have enough experience together you can do duets! and solos. they have more potential damage than each active band member playing separately (although all in one turn), but are harder to pull off. then you go to a screen and your patterns pop up above a field similar to ogre battle. after your turn, the enemies attack and i'll have to deal with some random stuff involving that eh
so, basically, many instruments that follow the same basic concept. a bemani rpg of sorts, i guess... you'd have to have a badass keyboard to play it, but wouldn't that be a kickass game
