What?
What in reference to what?
...that was confusing. Here's a rundown, I guess:
1)
Global hotkeys. iTunes supports the play/pause/stop/previous/next buttons on multimedia keyboard natively, but only when the application is up and in focus. Using its SDK I added global hotkeys support for it, allowing you to control it when it's in the background. There are other programs that do this but many of them are needlessly convoluted.
2)
The actual LCD display. Logitech's G15 software has a media display but it doesn't seem to support iTunes for whatever reason. I have another thread running in the global hotkeys program that displays the current track, artist, song position, and state (i.e. playing or stopped) on the G15's LCD. I'm going to extend its functionality a bit to provide more information by utilizing the four soft buttons that the G15 has under the display (visible in the second picture).
3)
The tray icon. Just something to let the user (i.e. me) know that it's running and to provide an "exit" option. And, hoo boy, it looks terrible. Here's what it looks like at 16x magnification:
I basically just scribbled LogiTunes on a blank image. When I ran out of space I started putting the letters in other parts of the image.
And no, that is not the final icon.
