Well, if you're flamed because everyone there is just an asshole, then you don't really have any reason to be defensive here, because unlike most of the internet, the people who come here actually have a functioning brain and common sense.
If, however, you made things worse by flaming back, trolling, or you were getting flamed for a good reason, then you might find your membership short lived, because unlike some sites, we actually have some moderation (despite the only person with admin/mod powers being rather busy most of the time).
My whole point is that just because you are flamed in one site doesn't mean you will be here. Every forum/web community is different, some are very intolerant, some are very friendly, some are populated by morons who aren't capable of putting together a single grammatically correct sentence, and because of that, you can't assume you're always going to get flamed for little to no reason.
As a good example: I tend to be very argumentative in most other internet communities. I constantly criticize them for not caring enough to actually formulate a proper English sentence. However, that gets me flamed by the people who do that, as well as the people who are capable of rational thought but don't have enough sense to understand that they are simply letting the English language become more and more deteriorated by these morons.
That sort of thing is giving people a good excuse to flame me, but just because I got flamed there doesn't mean that I'm gonna get flamed here too, just because the members here might know I do that sot of thing.
Oh, and if you haven't noticed already, I tend to make quite a few rather longwinded posts. It's a bit of a habit.
