a classic picture of eat coast highways. Also, what kind of car is this?
Good to see this thread back again. It's probably one of the top things I was bummed about from the most recent deleting.
-
It's a 1999 Mercury Cougar. It's route 90 west going towards amherst, massachusetts.
Oh, and I've gone back to digital again (I lasted one week without shooting it and I felt like a smoker who's quitting cold turkey).

^ very nice, also that first one looks kindah dangerous to take.
-
I like the way that neon sign turned out.
-
I was driving with my legs for about 5 seconds to get that photo...going 75mph hehehe
thanks for all the comments ;D

Heh, that's like the pic I took of my odometer at 77777. ~40mph, city traffic, while accelerating at a green light. Not the brightest idea I've had. :P Then again, it is a lot easier to take a picture with a cell phone than with a proper camera -- mad props 2 u.

I got my 1st roll of B&W processed. I'll post alot of them, one a day as usual :P

Nice. I like how uniform everything looks. That came out really well. Hell, it looks like it should be a CD cover or something, that's what it made me think of.
-
Thanks :). It took me like 5 minutes to change my perspective to make it seem like there's just that tree there.
It's my car 8)

How exactly do you change the perspective anyway? that's a pretty crazy process that needs to be done.

It's weird to try to explain, I would suggest standing infront of your house...and then stand in one point...and then walk three steps to the left (still facing your house) and see how the scene changes...and then go down to a low angle (like on your knees) and see how the scene changes then...

Man, great pictures so far, man.. keep up this great work.
also, looking at this last pic kinda gives you a feeling like you're doing something naughty. hahahaaaa

That's awesome, It's awesome when someone has an emotional reaction (read: not 'emo like reaction', but has an emotion) when they see one of my photos. Alot of times, I dont even ask if people like my photos or not, I just as them what they feel when they see it.
I guess we can all this photo a photo made to look like a snapshot...

I definitely had an emotional response to that candid shot you made back on the old s.net.
That last photo seems almost too plain, lol.
-
I kinda like it tho... It's like, "o hai wuts up?"
I like how big the building looks... It's totally dominating over the chick. looks cool

That fence in the background looks cool. It's barely visible, but the texture made a cool effect.

Um ass?

no, UM ass

Actually, yeah, it'd be interesting to see a website based around that... Where's sq3r? lol.

Yay, I finished off my 2nd roll of B&W film, gonna send it out to get developed tomorrow, expect pics 2 days later ;D

^ your dorm? that's tiny.
-
Yeah, dorm rooms generally are. I love how dorm rooms are less than half the size of a bedroom in an apartment yet have twice as many people in them.
...or you could always do what DeVry's Columbus, OH, location does -- squeeze four people into a tiny apartment 10+ miles away from campus. Yeah, I'd REALLY love to drive upwards of 16 miles to school through Columbus traffic...pass.
-
^ your dorm? that's tiny.
I was standing really close to her, there's alot of room behind me :).

and then the psycho killer jumps from behind the cement blocks and unsheaths a large knife with a gleam in his eye and a grin on his face while the string instruments are all playing shrill staccato notes in unison
i like it :)
-
Cristian, you should consider becoming a horror film director. :P
-
Heyyy, I'm glad you guys got that photos, everyone else I've showed it to dismisses it as a blurry/crappy photo, but they failed to realize that it's supposed to set a mood.
But anyways,
I've been really bored as of lately, so I took these out of my window as people were walking by (I was about 30feet away, 3rd floor of the building). Here's one of the better ones:
-
Looks like your on the ground, lol.
I really like our candid shots, the ones you post have a lot of emotion.
-
I can't take this, I must photograph digital...
Ahhhhh, film is nice, but man, this page needs to be updated!!!
No worries, I will go back to digital soon, and I'll probably update daily 8)
-
Lol, yay, more awesome images.
-
Sheesh man, I'm like.. waiting.
IM WAITING!
O GAWD HURRY UP IT HURTS TOO BAD
-
Holy shit man, what kind of camera are you using to get such an amazing quality picture like that? Its insane I tell you!
-
Most of the black and white photos I've posted here were shot with a $23 dollar Nikon N70 with Kodak CN400 Black and white Film.
-
That lettuce looked a bit like chicken skin, almost. CARNIVOROUS RODENTS HOLY FUCK. D:
-
CARNIVOROUS RODENTS HOLY FUCK. D:
I knew this day would come.
Pee Ess:
I like the latest candid shot. She doesn't have just any normal expression on her face; it's almost like she's just realized she left her house keys at school, or that she's lost all desire to live... Or maybe both, in that order.
-
Did you see his other candid, the one with the little girl? That one also had a lot of emotion in it, but yeah, that's a great way to describe how she looks in that last candid.
-
Might as well post this again, one of my better photos:

thanks for all the comments everyone, I appreciate it.
OMG new photo?

I will have a new roll of B&W film developed soon tho.

-
Ok, that is cool. How did you do that?
-
I like them both, also oh wtf hacks.
-
I'm glad you guys like it cause this is one of the few pictures I also like as well :).
There's nothing photoshopped in this photo, i put the camera on the roof of my car and did a long exposure (30 seconds). The lights around the car are actually the parking lights.
-
Ok, that is cool. Your pictures always have a certain quality to them.
-
^ it must be the camera :P
(http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/1965/boathe8.jpg)
-
That person's standing purdy still for 30 second exposure. o.o
-
^ My thoughts exactly. :o
Who waddat?
-
Opps, I was talking about the photo above that.
The person in the picture is my girlfriend...and the exposure was only 3 seconds...
I would love to see anyone try to stand still for 30 seconds for a photo (although back in the day they had exposures as long as 5 minutes for portraits...that's why you always see people with normal looking faces in old photos...no human can keep the same smile for 5 minutes hehehe).
-
Opps, I was talking about the photo above that.
Okay, thank goodness. :P
The person in the picture is my girlfriend...and the exposure was only 3 seconds...
Even so, she stayed awfully still for those three seconds. I've taken 1+ second exposure photos before (with my dad's digi...that's about as close to a good camera as I've used) and it's kind of hard to avoid blurring, especially when humans (DAMN HUMANS) are involved.

Hah, yeah, I remember reading about that. Might be something interesting to experiment with.

I like, is this a slow exposure shot?
-
That totally looks like a fake waterfall made of silk strings or something XD
-
I like the combination of the waterfall and the man-made wall. It gives it a cool feeling.

thanks for the comments :)

moon pic is pretty awesome though
-
attention you have too much goddamned money
err, what
-
err, what
why would you buy a cobalt flux those things are like $300 or something
-
$300 isn't that high of a price to pay for a pad that's going to last for quite a while. You can get metal pads for as cheap as $100-$200, but they're not going to hold up like a Flux would.
I bought my Flux used for $150 and it's gone through a few tournaments as well as a lot of stomping from the previous owner (and me). Aside from a few scuffed panels, the thing's in perfect shape.
-
attention you have too much goddamned money
I bought (2) cobalt flux 1st gen. pads in July 2003. I have used them since then (my weight has fluctuated from 200 to 250lbs)...Both together were $700 bucks, but they've lasted for all these years...best part is that they still work PERFECTLY. It was an investment, and I'm sure I'll be using these for another 10 years if not longer.

I kind of miss the snow, in a strange sort of way.
Though I have to say, walking out of a house near Cleveland and getting blasted with sub-0F temperatures (this was a few weeks before I came to Florida) wasn't particularly fun.
But oh well, me going home soon.
Beautiful photo, by the way. ;D The lake looks inviting, despite the fact that the water is probably FRICKEN' FREEZING.

It's actually a river ;D (I think the angle plus the wide angle make it seem wider that it really was).

Wow, I really like both sunset pictures.. That last one would be absolutely incredible if you could be closer to those clouds... :o
but anyway, that's a really good picture of the statue of liberty. When I went with my folks to see it they wouldn't let us go up to the crown-- you have to catch the first ferry out there. And nobody is really allowed to go up to the torch anymore. Irony: Not being allowed to visit the entire statue of liberty.
But anyway, keep those pictures coming!

Yes, 'liberty'...people love to give up their constitutional rights in the name of 'safety'.
But anyways, here's a snapshot-ish picture (it was superoverexposed w/ fill flash...this gives it an overcast look even though the sun was very bright)

Looks overcast because the sky is practically pure white, lol.
But nothing would look that bright on a real overcast day, that grass looks almost supernatural in that picture, lol.

looks overcastish to me, good pic.

oh shit. nice lighting and detail on that one. Too bad you can't make out the background, though. But again, perhaps its a good thing-- it forces attention onto the bird
-
Holy shit, insanely nice. Birds are hard as hell to photograph. <_< I think I might have gotten a good shot of one yesterday morning (in a tree, but the little guy was still awfully fidgety). Won't be able to tell until I get the film developed, though. :s

Exactly.
Also, smaller apertures require longer exposures, so you're less likely to be able to stop motion like that (which I hear requires about 1/500 of a second) unless you have really good light and fastish film.

Thanks, and yes it does :).

Thanks. Yeah, birds are tricky. I've basically given up on walking around trying to find birds, but if the right picture shows up and it happens to be a bird, and i have the right lens, i MIGHT take the picture :)

It's true that a smaller aperture will give you a 'bigger depth of field'... BUT, if you're shooting with a 300mm lens on a 1.5x digital crop factor from about 15 feet away, you could shoot F22 (or F32) and you still would get a blurry background (if the subject distance and background distance are far apart). I would never shoot f22 anyways cause diffraction kicks my ass after f16 on most of my lenses.

I've had very good luck getting pictures of ducks. They're pretty much the only bird I was able to get a full frame shot of. :P I was even able to get some decent shots with my D40's kit lens (18-55mm), which says a lot.

Diffraction's a bitch.
I generally try to keep it at or below f/11. For one, my D40's sensor has a few specks of dust that become noticeable at f/16 (except for a particularly large one that you can see at f/4...UGH) and start to become very apparent at around f/22, and I haven't messed with my 70-210mm AF enough to know what its limitations are, but it works great with f/11.

F64 4lyfe. :>
Usually I just use the best combo of fastest exposure time with smallest aperture. Of course, the film/iso speed needs to be pretty high to do it. :> Doing a setup like that is great for street photography, when shit can GO DOWN hella abruptly....
-
I've found that as long as your exposure time is 1/1000 or better (I heard that 1/500 is enough to stop motion, but I dunno) you should be a-ok with capturing hella abrupt shit. With my D40 I use ISO 200 whenever possible to lower the graininess a bit.
If you really want to play it safe, and your camera supports it, try setting it to either use manual settings with an automatic ISO selection (so a 1/1000 shutter speed in a shadowy area would wind up giving you ISO 800 and ISO 200 in broad daylight, or whatever) or using an aperture-priority program (which is marked with an "A" on both of my Nikons as well as my dad's Sony CyberShot) to help maintain a high shutter speed while achieving fairly consistent results.

Hey Cristian! Good to know you're still taking photos. I thoroughly enjoyed looking through this thread. I love the black and white tree on page one, but the one photo that stood out to me the most was the field (5th photo down on page 10)- awesome leading lines.

:D howdy Spectere.
And yes I am still photographing. But right now I am on a bit of a hiatus...had a lot of photo assignments over the year and I am in need of a break. I'll post a thread shortly of some of my work throughout the year. But I still owe it to you for steering me in the right camera direction (Nikon D50)- couldn't be happier with this camera!
-
Wicked, so you're planning on actually returning to s.net??
If so, maybe another flypie's corner could show up?

I have your camera's younger brother (the D40) -- 'tis my first DSLR. :D
I recommend grabbing the 55-200mm AF-S Nikkor if you haven't already. The vibration reduction model goes for $250 and it roxors.

MAYHAPS. :3 That section was fun.

Call me weird, but I actually remember her saying she bought the 55-200 non VR soon after she got the D50 (I think).

I love the bee shot. It'd have been rad if you could see the entire bee. Then again, that's pretty difficult to do.
Oh, and sand bars are awesome.

Sooo, I traveled across Europe for 15 days on February of this year, visited 8 countries (Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, and Portugal) by myself. Traveled by train, and took over 1,500 photos. Here's one of them.
Rome, Italy:

With my untrained eyes, that looks like a long exposure... How long was it?

Hahaha, yes...that :) It was my last photo in Rome, and I felt it was gonna be the best one of the 12 hour day I spent taking photos...
Here's one from Paris:
